DescriptionThe whole story

Please note: sale to France is prohibited.

TC-3 is the yellow Abiding, and it is the most conspicuous helmet in the entire Glamster06 range. Yellow is also period-correct in a way most riders do not realise — it was a common racing colour long before high-visibility clothing existed.

Five SHARP stars — and which Glamster earned them

Five stars is the top band, and very few helmets of any type reach it — the distribution is weighted towards three and four. Reaching it with a compact shell, a low weight of 1.3 kg and a design brief that ruled out most modern shaping is a genuinely strong result.

SHARP tested the Glamster06 in May 2025 under ECE 22.06 and awarded the full 5/5.

About the Abiding TC-3 graphic

There is a genuine safety argument here and it is worth making properly. The human eye resolves yellow faster than any other colour against a dull background, which is precisely the condition in which motorcyclists are most often not seen — flat light, cluttered urban scenery, a driver at a junction with a fraction of a second to decide. A yellow helmet sits at head height, above the headlight, where the eye actually scans. The Abiding drawing keeps it from looking like safety equipment: the geometry is period, not modern, so the helmet reads as a racing colour rather than as a workwear one. 🔵 Yellow shows dirt as readily as white and fades under UV faster than a dark colour. Neither is a reason not to buy it; both are reasons to wash it.

AIM, three shells, double-D and EQRS

Compactness on a full-face is structural, not cosmetic. A smaller shell has less leverage acting on your neck, less frontal area in the airstream and less mass to accelerate in an impact — and it is the reason the Glamster06 weighs around 1300 g rather than 1500.

Three shell sizes keep that compactness true across XS to XXL, over a multi-density EPS liner and behind a double-D ring.

The CPB-1V visor — and the sun shield that is not there

A tinted visor on a helmet with no internal shield is a summer commitment rather than a convenience: when the light goes, you are changing visors at the roadside rather than flicking a lever. Worth planning for — carry the clear one, or buy the photochromic.

🔵 The clear CPB-1V comes with a Pinlock EVO lens included; spare pins are in the box too. Replacements are DKS056.

One intake, aluminium mesh, no sliders

🔵 The chin intakes cannot be closed. That is the correct decision for visor clarity and a real limitation in genuinely cold weather — there is a chin curtain in the box, and it does more for winter comfort than any vent setting would.

The forehead intake does close, in one movement with no intermediate steps, and the used air exits at the neck.

Interior, fit and glasses

🔵 A new helmet should feel slightly tighter than comfortable. Padding compresses with use, and a helmet that feels perfect in the shop will usually be loose by the end of the first season.

When that happens, thicker cheek pads bring it back rather than requiring a new helmet — they are made in several thicknesses for exactly this. The base fit is intermediate oval, and MCN rated comfort 5/5.

How loud it actually is

🔵 Earplugs are not an admission that a helmet is loud. Hearing damage from wind noise is cumulative and permanent, and it happens at speeds most riders consider ordinary — a set of moulded plugs is the single best comfort purchase you can make after the helmet itself.

For the record, MCN rated the Glamster06 4/5 on noise.

Around 1300 grams, and the rest of the honest list

This helmet asks you to accept a specific set of compromises in exchange for a specific set of qualities, and it is worth being deliberate about both. Give up: sun visor, intercom, vent adjustment, some quiet. Get: 1300 g, a five-star SHARP rating, EQRS, a compact shell and a silhouette nothing else on the market offers.

🔵 If any item on the first list is essential to you, the GT-Air3 has all of them.

Where it sits in Shoei's range

At 469 € for a solid it is a fair question what has been left out compared with the 599 € GT-Air3. The answer is equipment, not construction: no sun visor, no communication interface, far less vent area.

The shell is AIM, the liner is multi-density EPS, there are three shell sizes, EQRS is fitted and the Pinlock lens is in the box — none of which is entry-level.

When something wears out

🔵 Replacement padding is also the right answer to a helmet that has gone loose. Rather than living with one that moves, fit thicker cheek pads — they exist in several thicknesses for exactly this, at a fraction of the cost of a new helmet.

We stock those, the chin strap covers, the chin curtain and the full CPB-1V visor range.

“The retro full-face done properly: vintage silhouette, modern homologation, five SHARP stars and a visor seal that keeps it quiet. It loses ground here only to open-face helmets, which fit the café racer brief more literally.”
