DescriptionThe whole story▼
The second Ready colourway keeps the same chevron pattern in a completely different register: a black base, a bright cyan-blue panel, a deeper indigo chevron texture, and a red wedge at the crown. It's the most colour-dense decor in the whole OXO line, and, like the plain white Ready next to it, still built on the identical shell and the identical chin-bar hinge that makes this a Flip-Up helmet rather than a fixed jet or full-face.
A note on this particular finish
Two distinct blues sit side by side here rather than one: a genuinely bright, almost turquoise cyan across the largest panel, and a darker, more saturated blue in the chevron texture beneath it — different enough in the manufacturer photography to list as Light Blue and Dark Blue rather than rounding both to a single shade. The red wedge at the top and the black base complete a four-colour decor, the most of any OXO in this batch.
Understanding the flip-back hinge
At the base of the OXO's chin bar sit two release catches; pull them and the bar swings up and locks flat against the top of the shell, turning a closed full-face helmet into an open one without removing anything. It's a mechanism, not a marketing description — the bar is a hinged, structural part of the same shell in both positions, which sets the OXO apart from any helmet that simply has no chin bar to begin with.
Two configurations, both covered
The OXO's certification, per Shark's own documentation, doesn't stop at the closed position: it states dual P/J approval, covering the helmet both full-face and open, jet-style. That sits on top of ECE 22.06, the stricter EU standard in force since 2024 — eighteen impact points instead of five, tested at several speeds, with an oblique-impact anvil test and a rotational Brain Injury Criterion that the earlier 22.05 standard never required.
Two shells, confirmed twice over
Shark's visor page states two visor sizes per tint, one per shell size, for the OXO's VZ390 family; the separate Pinlock cross-reference in the range book confirms the same split independently, with its own two part numbers for the OXO's Pinlock insert. Both point to the same underlying fact: this helmet is built on two shell moulds, not one, and its spare parts follow that split all the way through.
Weight, honestly ranged
Rather than repeat only Shark's 1,660 g first-shell figure, it's worth setting it against two independent weighings: SHARP's own test, at roughly 1.7 kg, and MotorcycleNews's review unit, at 1,880 g. The real number for any given OXO sits somewhere in that range depending on shell size and fitted accessories — and it's the number your neck carries for however long the ride runs, not the number printed on the box.
Where this decor lands, in real terms
Two genuine Shark 2027 helmets bracket this OXO's price, one just below and one just above — worth seeing both before judging the number alone:
| Model | Price | Configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Shark Spartan RS Fibre Dark Shadow Mat | 389.99 EUR | Full-Face |
| This OXO decor | 409.99 EUR | Flip-Up, full-face and jet |
| Shark Spartan RS Carbon Skin, visor in the box | 429.99 EUR | Full-Face |
Two vents, both configurations, no guessed numbers
Documented ventilation on the OXO runs to a chin vent and a brow vent, both simple switches; how air exits the shell isn't specified by Shark, so it's left as a gap. Independent reports describe no noise issues riding open through town and a general expectation of quiet performance, alongside a caution that earlier Shark modular helmets weren't always calm at motorway pace. No source publishes an actual decibel figure for the OXO, so this text doesn't invent one either.
Vision options, correctly scoped
Every OXO's standard visor is clear, approved for all users, fitted with Pinlock 70, adjustable at the central lock, and anti-scratch treated. Shark's VZ390 catalogue extends that with a TE50 daytime tint and a five-shade Iridium range reserved for racing use only — track visors, not road ones. No optical class is stated for this visor family, and this description doesn't fill that gap with an assumption.
Confirmed comfort features, and the honest gaps
SHARP and Shark both confirm the same four everyday features on the OXO: an internal drop-down sun visor, an intercom-ready shell, tool-free visor removal, and a glasses groove in the liner. Whether that liner is washable, and what pad sizes exist, aren't stated by either — so this description treats both as open rather than assumed. SHARP's four-star rating is dated May 2025.
Who this decor suits
The black-and-blue Ready carries the same Sport and Street pairing as its white-and-red sibling — the most colour-dense graphic in the whole line, aimed at a rider who wants maximum visual presence on a spirited road ride. The mechanism doing the actual work is identical to every other OXO here: a chin bar that opens for practicality, dressed in the boldest finish Shark offers for this shell.
The fit caveat this listing won't skip
Two shells across six sizes on the OXO means the fit isn't necessarily uniform end to end. An independent review describes the internal shape as leaning oval and notes it was too oval for that particular tester's head — one honest, subjective account, not a manufacturer figure, but worth reading before assuming your own head shape will suit it without trying.
Sixteen tints, and the shell-size rule that applies to all of them
The OXO's official visor catalogue runs to sixteen tints, clear through TE50 light tint to five Iridium finishes, priced roughly EUR 31 to EUR 85 — and the shell-size rule that governs the whole helmet applies here too, with a small-shell and large-shell version of every single one. The Pinlock 70 insert carries the identical split, confirmed independently in the range book.
Five things worth knowing before you order
No MIPS. No EQRS. No published dB figure, either configuration. No documented exhaust-vent layout. And, per one independent reviewer, a fit that ran too oval for their own head. SHARP's four-star rating, earned in a May 2025 test, is a genuine independent result, but it describes that one test rather than guaranteeing every future one. All five points belong in this listing, not discovered after delivery.
What you get, and for how long
Clear VZ390 visor, Pinlock 70 insert, and a built-in internal sun visor all come fitted on the OXO from the start. Shark's warranty runs five years, and spare parts stay genuinely available across that period rather than fading out after the first year.
