This is the most visible helmet in the X.RALLY range: a white ground with fluorescent yellow over it, on the carbon shell. If being seen is the deciding factor, the decision is already made.

Three modes in one shell

Three modes also means three different helmets to compare against when shopping. In Dual-Sport the X.RALLY competes with adventure helmets; in Off-Road with motocross helmets; in On-Road with sport-touring ones.

🔵 It is not the best helmet in any of those three categories. It is the only one that is acceptable in all three.

About the Raid White Neon graphic

Two bright elements rather than one is what puts this ahead of the other high-visibility options. The white ground works in the conditions fluorescent pigments do least for — direct sun, where everything is bright — and the neon takes over in the conditions white struggles in: overcast, dusk, tree shade, dust. Between them they cover almost the whole range of light a rider actually meets. The trade is dirt, and this helmet shows all of it. 🔵 Fluorescent fades fastest of any pigment under UV, so keep it in the bag when the bike is parked in the sun.

The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers

🔵 What carbon does not do is make a helmet safer by itself. The approvals are identical between the two shells in this range: ECE 22-06, DOT, CCC and NBR. What it does is reduce mass, which reduces the load your neck carries over a long day.

The X-PRO Carbon shell is claimed at 1350 g; the X-Foam bumper layer is shared with the composite version.

The Recoil visor, and the two shields in the box

What you get in the box optically is unusually complete: clear visor, Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision lens fitted, and a photochromic shield. Most helmets at this price supply one visor and sell the rest.

Nine intakes — and two tests that disagree about them

🔵 The honest position on this helmet's ventilation is that the evidence is contradictory, and pretending otherwise would not help you. A measured test scored it 2 out of 5; a hands-on road test said it „moves air like an open-face helmet".

What is not in dispute: 9 intakes, 6 exhausts, cheek-pad ventilation, a mid air chamber, an Air Cumbs chamber and a dedicated winter chin vent.

How loud it actually is

Three modes means three noise levels, and the difference between them is larger than the specification suggests. Off-Road with goggles is the loudest; Dual-Sport with peak and visor is the measured configuration at 103 dB; On-Road peakless is the quietest.

Interior, hydration routing and fit

🔵 Two independent findings on fit, both worth having. The measured test called it true to size with an intermediate-to-long oval shape and scored comfort 3.5/5; a separate road test described it as spacious inside.

Roomy helmets suit long days and glasses; they need checking for movement before you buy.

1350 grams claimed, 1553 measured

🔵 Manufacturer helmet weights are quoted for a specific size, usually the smallest in the shell, and often without the peak, the visor or the padding a customer actually receives. That is the most likely explanation for the 200 g gap here.

Where it sits — and who should buy something else

The X.RALLY competes in three categories at once because it converts between three modes, and it is not the best helmet in any of them. It is the only one that is acceptable in all three, which for riders who genuinely do all three is the point.

🔵 For riders who do one, a specialist helmet is both better and cheaper.

Intercom, camera mounts and spare parts

The X-HIDRO hydration routing, the four-position chin camera mount and the moulded reflectors are the three details that mark this out as a helmet designed for long days rather than short rides.

🔵 The hydration bladder, the camera kit and the intercom are all bought separately — what the helmet provides is the provision.
