DescriptionThe whole story▼

Green with neon yellow is the most unusual pairing in the range and the only one built around green at all. It is also, after the white-neon versions, among the most visible — the fluorescent does the work and the green stops it looking like workwear.

Three modes in one shell

Riders coming from a road helmet usually run Dual-Sport permanently and never discover the rest. It is worth trying On-Road mode once on a motorway — the difference in noise and head buffeting is larger than the specification sheet suggests.

🔵 The peak refits in under a minute when the surface changes.

Mode Peak Eye protection Best for
Dual-Sport fitted Recoil visor mixed days, low sun, spray
Off-Road fitted goggles (not supplied) trail and enduro, maximum airflow
On-Road removed Recoil visor motorway transfers — the quietest setting

About the Raid Green Neon graphic

Fluorescent yellow on its own reads as safety equipment; set against a deep green it reads as a colourway that happens to be highly visible, which is a different thing entirely. That distinction matters to more riders than manufacturers assume. Functionally the fluorescent element behaves as it always does: it converts UV into visible light, so it keeps working in overcast, in shade and in dust haze where ordinary pigments flatten out. 🔵 It also fades faster than any other pigment type under sustained sun, and no care regime stops that entirely — only storage out of direct light slows it.

The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers

Three outer shell sizes across XXS to XXXL is unusual generosity in a range this wide, and it matters more than the shell material for how the helmet feels. A single shell padded down leaves small heads inside an oversized helmet.

The construction here is X-PRO Carbon, claimed at 1350 g, with X-Foam EPP bumpers over the lower shell and chin.

Shell Construction Weight (Nexx) Decors
X-Matrix2 six-layer fibreglass composite 1475 g Plain, YUMA
X-PRO Carbon carbon fibre 1350 g (1553 g measured, size M) PRO Carbon, Raid, Gravix, Zero Pro, Namib, FIM Racing #2

The Recoil visor, and the two shields in the box

The dual-lip bead seal does two jobs at once: it keeps water out in the rain, and it holds down the high-frequency noise that leaks around a poorly sealed visor edge — which on a helmet measured at 103 dB is worth having.

The spring-loaded Recoil plates supply the tension; both supplied visors use the same plates.

Nine intakes — and two tests that disagree about them

Ventilation on an adventure helmet has to work with the visor closed and cracked, because riders use both constantly — sealed on the motorway, open a notch on a slow climb. The Recoil mechanism holds an intermediate position without buffeting.

🔵 The measured cooling result was 2/5 on a 3 °C delta; a separate road test disagreed sharply. Judge it on your own riding.

How loud it actually is

🔵 One thing worth checking on any helmet at this price: whether air whistles with the visor fully closed. On the X.RALLY the spring-loaded base plates pull the visor into dual-lip beads, so a whistle usually means a dirty or aged bead rather than a design fault.

Measured overall noise: 103 dB, scored 3/5.

Interior, hydration routing and fit

Washing the interior is a job you will do on this helmet, so it is worth knowing it comes out completely by hand — liner, both cheek pads and the chin-strap covers — and goes back in without a struggle.

The mesh construction also dries considerably faster than a foam-and-fabric liner, which matters between consecutive riding days.

1350 grams claimed, 1553 measured

Running On-Road mode removes the peak and with it a real part of the perceived weight, because the neck load on an adventure helmet is as much aerodynamic as gravitational.

🔵 The shell is quoted at 1350 g; an independent weighing of a size M returned 1553 g.

Where it sits — and who should buy something else

If you are choosing between the carbon and composite versions purely on price, buy the composite and spend the difference on goggles and an intercom. The 125 g gap matters on a long day; it matters less than having the right equipment for the mode you ride in.

🔵 Both shells carry identical approvals and identical X-Foam bumper protection.

Intercom, camera mounts and spare parts

Camera and intercom provision on the same helmet is rarer than it should be, because the two compete for the same space around the ears and the shell edge. The X.RALLY separates them: recesses and a slot for the intercom, dedicated mounts for the camera kit.

🔵 Both are separate purchases; neither is in the box.
