Plain Black is the entry point to the X.LIFETOUR and the version where the engineering does the talking. Same P/J homologation, same Silent Travel Seal, same SHARP-rated shell as everything above it.

Three SHARP stars — and the 50 % you should know about

SHARP rated the X.LIFETOUR 3 out of 5 stars — tested April 2026, to ECE 22.06, at a measured 1.8 kg. It is the only Nexx helmet in the programme's database.

🔵 The rating comes with a figure worth reading: the face guard remained fully locked in 50 % of impacts. On a flip-up that is the number to weigh, and it is why the P/J dual homologation matters.

About the gloss black finish

A touring flip-up carries a lot of visible structure — the chin-bar seam, the vent housings, the pivot covers — and gloss black reads all of it as one continuous surface rather than as assembled parts. On a large touring motorcycle that unity suits the machine better than a graphic would. The practical case is the familiar one: road film against dark clear coat is maximum contrast, and dry-wiping leaves permanent swirls. Wash it wet and dry it with a clean cloth. 🔵 It is also the least conspicuous version here, which on a helmet used for motorway distance in poor light is worth a thought.

P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar

P/J dual homologation is the specification that separates a serious flip-up from a convenience one: the helmet is certified and legal to ride with the chin bar open as well as closed.

🔵 That matters more than usual here, because SHARP found the face guard locked in only 50 % of impacts. A helmet certified in both positions is a different proposition from one certified only closed.

The X-Matrix2 shell

This version uses the X-Matrix2 shell — a multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite — in two outer shell sizes covering XS to XXXL. Claimed weight is around 1800 g ±50.

🔵 SHARP's tested example weighed 1.8 kg, which matches this shell rather than the carbon one.

96 decibels — the Silent Travel Seal

Quiet is what this helmet is for, and the measurement backs it: an independent road test recorded 96 dB average at 130 km/h and scored noise 5 out of 5 — class-leading for a flip-up.

The hardware behind it is the Silent Travel Seal, a double rubber seal around the visor and the chin closure, plus chin vortex generators and anti-noise cheek pads and neck roll.

X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors

X-Sensus Vision is Nexx's name for the aperture, and the specification behind it is concrete: an eye port 15 % larger than the standard requires, for a genuinely wider field of view.

The visor changes tool-free through X-SWIFT, a Pinlock® 70 MaxVision lens comes fitted, a second clear visor is in the box, and there is a drop-down internal sun visor behind it.

Two closable intakes and two air chambers

Ventilation is two closable intakes and two exhausts, plus the patent-pending Mid Airflow Chamber that circulates fresh air around the head and vents hot air out at the rear, and the Air Cumbs crown pad which opens a fresh-air chamber against the EPS.

🔵 Closable intakes matter on a helmet insulated this heavily for quiet — you can shut them completely in winter.

Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.

The interior is Morpho-Fit: a 3D-shaped, seamless X-Mart Dry liner with multi-channel ventilation built into it. Seamless matters on a touring helmet — a seam is where a pressure point starts at hour four.

🔵 F.R.S.® releases the cheek pads tool-free, for cleaning and for safer emergency removal by first responders. Retention is a metal micrometric ratchet.

Around 1.8 kilograms, and the rest of the honest list

Around 1800 g ±50 is what a P/J flip-up of this class weighs, and there is no way to present it as light. SHARP's tested example weighed 1.8 kg, confirming the figure.

🔵 The honest list: heavy; a face guard locked in 50 % of SHARP's impacts; a 3-star rather than 5-star rating; and an acoustic package that holds heat at low speed.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

The X.LIFETOUR is Nexx's touring flip-up and the only helmet they make with an independent safety rating. Its sibling, the X.LIFECOUNTRY, is the same platform with a removable off-road peak — heavier, louder and aimed at mixed surfaces.

🔵 If your riding is tarmac, this is the quieter and lighter of the two by a clear margin.

Comms, cameras and spare parts

The X-COM3 system integrates into the shell with Bluetooth 5, and there are two action-camera mounts — top and side — rather than the single mount most helmets offer.

🔵 Neither the comms system nor a camera is supplied. A removable wind deflector and breath guard are, and moulded night-vision reflectors are standard.
