Sprint Filter listet den 7-Mikrometer-T12 für genau eines der drei Motorräder, die sich dieses Gehäuse teilen, und es ist nicht das mit dem aggressivsten Auftritt. Für die 703RR und die 703R ETC gibt es das Standardgewebe, den P14 und das Racing-Gewebe; nur die 703T ETC bekommt das Wüstenmedium. Das Element hat für alle drei dieselbe Form, die Wahl sagt also nichts über die Passform. Sie sagt etwas über den Einsatz: Von den dreien wird der Tourer am ehesten weit abseits befestigter Straßen gefahren, beladen und tagelang.

Der feinste Rückhalt beim geringsten Durchfluss
Dies ist der dichteste Filter, den Sprint Filter fertigt, und er wird genau darauf hin verkauft. Mit 7 µm hält er Partikel weit unterhalb dessen zurück, wofür das 80-Mikron-Gewebe des P08 ausgelegt ist, und das hält feinen mineralischen Staub auf einer langen trockenen Etappe vom Motor fern. Der Preis ist Durchfluss – 560 Liter je Quadratmeter pro Sekunde, der niedrigste Wert der Reihe –, und auf Asphalt kauft dieser Preis nichts. Er ist ein Werkzeug für bestimmte Wochen, kein Element für das ganze Jahr.
Ihn in eine Reise einplanen
Sinnvoll besitzt man einen T12 am Tourer neben dem P08, nicht statt seiner. Bauen Sie ihn vor einer Reise durch staubiges Land ein, fahren Sie die Reise und setzen Sie für die Straßen zu Hause wieder das Standardelement ein; beide kommen aus derselben unveränderten Airbox. Stärker wird die 703T ETC dadurch nicht – das schafft kein Filter in einer Serien-Airbox –, und an einem schnellen Autobahntag gibt er Durchfluss ab, den der Motor sonst nutzen würde. Bei etwa sieben Zehnteln des Preises des Standardelements sind das überschaubare Kosten für die eine Situation, für die er gemacht ist.
Pflege und Reinigung
Arbeiten Sie Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen durch den SM300T12, über die ganze Matte. Nach einer wirklich staubigen Reise waschen Sie ihn in lauwarmem Wasser mit mildem Spülmittel und spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Trocknen Sie ihn langsam in bewegter Luft bei Raumtemperatur – keine Heißluftpistole, kein Heizkörper, keine Flamme, die den Fasern schaden – und setzen Sie ihn trocken und unbehandelt ein.
