Ein Reise-Einzylinder verbringt mehr Zeit seines Lebens stehend als laufend. Er übersteht einen Winter, eine Arbeitswoche, eine Schlechtwetterphase, und der Filterkasten steht mit ihm: geschlossen, unbelüftet, hält fest, was die letzte Fahrt hinterlassen hat. Genau dort leistet die am wenigsten beworbene Eigenschaft des CM199T12 ihre stille Arbeit. Das Material ist trocken, und es war schon trocken, als es aus der Verpackung kam. Es trägt keine Beschichtung, die nach unten wandern, sich verdicken, ungleichmäßig eintrocknen oder zwischen zwei Saisons ranzig werden könnte, was bedeutet, dass ein geparktes Motorrad einfach ein geparktes Motorrad bleibt.

Die Monate mit stehendem Motor
Die Standzeit ist der Teil des Besitzes, für den niemand eine Spezifikation angibt. Ein mit einer klebrigen Beschichtung behandeltes Element verbringt diese Wochen damit, dass die Beschichtung langsam den tiefsten Punkt der Falte findet, und jede dieser Wochen zählt gegen es. Ein trockenes Vlies hat nichts umzuverteilen. Der eine Lagerungsfehler, der dem Besitzer noch bleibt, ist, ein Element nach einer Wäsche feucht wieder einzusetzen und dann den Deckel zu schließen, weshalb die Regel am Ende jedes Services mehr wert ist als jeder Kennwert: Es kommt trocken wieder rein, oder es kommt noch nicht wieder rein.
Sieben Mikron, ehrlich bepreist
Der Durchflusswert dieser Stufe beträgt etwa ein Neuntel des Standardwerts für denselben Kasten, und diese Reduzierung wird bei jedem Ansaughub bezahlt, im Verkehr genauso wie auf einer losen Schotterpiste. Zurückgezahlt wird sie nur dort, wo schwebender mineralischer Staub die Regel statt die Ausnahme ist – ein trockenes Flussbett, ein Stück unbefestigter Straße hinter einem anderen Fahrzeug, ein ganzer Sommer davon. Feiner bedeutet mehr zurückgehalten und weniger durchgelassen: ein Tausch, keine Rangfolge. Und nichts davon ist ein Leistungsteil. Ein Einbauelement macht ein Standardmotorrad nicht spürbar stärker, gleich welches Medium.
Pflege und Reinigung
Zuerst Luft, Wasser nur, wenn Luft nicht ausreicht. Die Druckluftpistole an die saubere Seite halten und die Beladung auf demselben Weg zurücktreiben, auf dem sie eindrang; widersteht dem ein fettiger Film, lösen ihn lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel, danach spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Alles danach ist Geduld: Luft bei Raumtemperatur, nach Möglichkeit bewegt, und an keiner Stelle ein Heizgerät, Fön oder eine Flamme, denn Hitze ist es, die diesem Material tatsächlich den Garaus macht.
