Eine Frage, die sich vor der Bestellung lohnt: Woran würden Sie im Nachhinein erkennen, dass dies das falsche Medium war? Bei einer straßenorientierten 990 Duke R fällt die Antwort unangenehm aus. Wer das feinste Element im Programm einsetzt, verzichtet auf rund acht von neun Teilen der Nenndurchlässigkeit – und wenn die Luft nie das enthielt, was das Vlies zurückhalten sollte, gibt es am Ende kein dramatisches Symptom. Es gibt nur ein Element, das am Ende fast so aussieht wie zu Beginn. Der Test existiert. Er ist nur langsam – und leise.

Der Test, den Sie wirklich durchführen können
Einbauen, die Saison wie gewohnt fahren und ansehen, was herauskommt. Ein Vlies, das erkennbar gearbeitet hat, ist der Beweis, dass die Luft es verdient hat; eines, das nach einer Saison kaum etwas hergibt, ist der Beweis, dass dies nicht der Fall war – und dass die Durchflussrate für sehr wenig geopfert wurde. Beide Ergebnisse sind aufschlussreich, und keines kostet mehr als die Zeit, das Gehäuse zu öffnen – das ist der praktische Vorteil eines Mediums, das gereinigt statt weggeworfen wird. Nur wenige Entscheidungen an einem Motorrad beantworten sich derart günstig von selbst.
Was der Test nicht klären kann
Er kann nicht sagen, was die verringerte Durchlässigkeit im Gegenzug wert war, denn diese Seite der Gleichung erscheint nie als greifbarer Wert auf einem Prüfstand. Sprint Filter veröffentlicht keine Motorleistungswerte, diese Seite wird keine erfinden, und das Material ist bauartbedingt restriktiver als das Standardgewebe. Es ist auch in keiner Richtung ein Leistungsteil: Kein Element, das in einen unveränderten Luftfilterkasten eingesetzt wird, macht eine Serien-990-Duke-R schneller. Was jedes Medium für dieses Gehäuse bietet, ist ein Ansaugwiderstand, der unter dem eines Wegwerf-Papierelements beginnt und mit einer Druckluftleitung wieder dorthin zurückgeführt wird, statt zwischen den Wartungsintervallen anzusteigen.
Pflege und Reinigung
Nehmen Sie das PM175T12 heraus und halten Sie eine Druckluftleitung an seine saubere Seite, wobei Sie den Luftstrahl so lange nach außen führen, bis das Vlies nichts mehr abgibt – das ist die Wartung, und zugleich die Kontrolle. Wenn mehr als Luft nötig ist, hilft handwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel, gefolgt von so langem Spülen, wie sich das Wasser noch verfärbt. Trocknen Sie es ausschließlich an frischer, bewegter Luft, nie mit Hitze und nie in der Nähe offener Flammen, und setzen Sie es erst wieder ein, wenn keine Feuchtigkeit mehr vorhanden ist. Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
Der T12 für die KTM 990 Duke R, 2024 bis 2026, im Serien-Luftfilterkasten anstelle des Originalelements.
