Das hier ist das unbequeme, deshalb kommt es zuerst. Bei einer 1290 Super Duke R ist das T12 so gut wie nie der richtige Kauf. Es ist das feinste Material, das Sprint Filter herstellt, entwickelt für Wüstenetappen und für Luft mit sichtbarer Fracht, und es verlangt dafür etwa ein Neuntel des Durchflusses des Standardgewebes – 560 Liter pro Quadratmeter und Sekunde gegenüber 5.050. Ein Hyper-Naked-Bike, das sein Leben auf asphaltierten Straßen verbringt, gibt so viel her und sammelt im normalen Betrieb nichts dafür ein.

Drei Fälle, in denen es trotzdem Sinn ergibt
Der erste ist eine regelmäßige Strecke mit einem langen unbefestigten Abschnitt – ein Weg zu einem Haus, ein Pass, der nie asphaltiert wurde – der oft genug gefahren wird, dass der Luftfilterkasten ihn wöchentlich statt einmalig sieht. Der zweite ist eine feste Saison schlechter Luft bei täglichem Einsatz der Maschine: Bauarbeiten, die Monate dauern werden, Erntewagenverkehr auf dem Arbeitsweg, ein gesplitteter Winter, der nie weggespült wird. Der dritte ist eine Maschine, die in eine Region geliefert und dort gefahren wird, in der mineralischer Staub schlicht das ist, woraus die Luft besteht. In diesen drei Fällen beantworten 7 Mikron eine echte Frage, und der Durchfluss ist ein fairer Preis.
Und das Gegenargument, klar ausgesprochen
Außerhalb dieser Fälle ist dies das falsche Element für dieses Motorrad, und das Standardgewebe oder das 14-Mikron-Vlies ist der richtige Kauf. Keines der vier Medien ändert das Ergebnis, auf das die meisten Leute hoffen: Kein Einsatzelement macht ein Serienmotorrad spürbar schneller, und das feinste bewegt die Zahl von Natur aus in die andere Richtung. Was jede Version bietet, ist ein Widerstand, der niedrig beginnt und durch Reinigung wiederhergestellt statt schrittweise aufgegeben wird – aber ein Widerstand, der bei 560 beginnt, hat schon viel aufgegeben, bevor sich das Motorrad überhaupt bewegt hat.
Pflege und Reinigung
Das PM190T12 ist trocken, sodass es an einem Nachmittag aus- und wieder eingebaut werden kann. Druckluft an der sauberen Seite, nach außen geführt, führt die Belastung durch die Oberfläche zurück, die sie gehalten hat, und bei diesem Material wird das öfter nötig sein als bei einem Gewebe. Stärkere Verschmutzung braucht lauwarmes Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel, gespült, bis das Wasser klar abläuft, dann zirkulierende Luft, so lange die Matte es braucht. Kein Heizkörper, keine Heißluftpistole, keine Flamme zu keinem Zeitpunkt, und trocken wieder einsetzen. Das Wartungsblatt von Sprint Filter finden Sie im Downloads-Tab.
Passform & Kompatibilität
Für die KTM 1290 Super Duke R von 2020 bis 2023, im unveränderten Originalluftfilterkasten. Drei Maschinen sind unter diesem Code gelistet – diese, die 1290 Super Duke RR und die 1390 Super Duke R – mit ihren Baujahresfenstern im Fitment-Tab. Diese Auflistung existiert, weil sich alle drei ein Gehäuse teilen, nicht weil sie sich einen Einsatzzweck teilen.
