Das Medium in einem Luftfilterkasten zu wechseln klingt nach einem Gewohnheitswechsel, ist es aber nicht. Der P14 wird beim ZT 200 genauso eingesetzt wie das gewebte Element, mit derselben Druckluftpistole gewartet, trocknet auf dieselbe Weise, trägt dieselben zwei Jahre Garantie und soll genauso lange halten wie die Maschine. An der Nutzung ändert sich nichts. Das Einzige, was das feinere Gewebe verändert, ist, wie oft es sich lohnt, den Deckel zu öffnen – und das entscheiden die gefahrenen Straßen, nicht die Artikelnummer auf dem Kasten.

Die Teile der Entscheidung, die sich nicht ändern
Welches Medium auch für diesen Kasten gewählt wird, der Luftfilterkasten bleibt, wie ihn das Werk gebaut hat, die Kraftstoffabstimmung bleibt unangetastet, und das Originalelement kann jederzeit wieder eingesetzt werden, wenn der Besitzer das möchte. Die feinere Spezifikation ist kein Umbau und verlangt auch keinen. Sie bringt auch keine Leistung: Kein Einsteckelement macht ein Serienmotorrad spürbar schneller, und dieses hier gibt bewusst einen Teil der Ansaugreserve her, 1.800 gegenüber den 5.050 l/m²/sek. des Gewebes. Was bleibt, ist kleiner und nützlicher – eine 14-Mikron-Barriere und ein Widerstand, der sich wieder auf seinen Ausgangswert zurücksetzen lässt, statt nur zu steigen.
Der Teil, bei dem das Gewebe nicht helfen kann
Filterung gilt für Luft, die durch das Medium strömt. Luft, die am Rand des Elements vorbeischlüpft oder durch einen Deckel eindringt, der nach der letzten Kontrolle nicht vollständig eingerastet wurde, wird überhaupt nicht gefiltert – und es interessiert sie nicht, dass das Gewebe, an dem sie vorbeikam, das feinste im Katalog war. Bei einer Maschine, die für staubige Bedingungen angeschafft wird, verdienen der Sitz des Elements und der Zustand der Luftführung dieselbe Aufmerksamkeit wie die Spezifikation: fest einsetzen, den Kasten richtig verschließen, den Ansaugweg stromaufwärts intakt halten. Das ist der Unterschied zwischen einem 14-Mikron-Filter und einem 14-Mikron-Ansaugsystem.
Pflege und Reinigung
Gewöhnlicher Staub braucht keine Chemie. Druckluft, an die saubere Seite gehalten und nach außen geführt, schickt ihn auf demselben Weg zurück, auf dem er kam. Fett oder ein öliger Film brauchen lauwarmes Wasser mit mildem Spülmittel, danach spülen, bis das Wasser klar ist. Das Element ausschließlich in bewegter Luft bei Raumtemperatur trocknen – Heizlüfter, Heizkörper und Flammen verformen das Medium alle –, und den SM276P14 trocken wieder einsetzen, ohne etwas aufzutragen.
