Kaum ein Sportlerbesitzer sucht nach einem feineren Filter, und um genau diesen blinden Fleck geht es auf dieser Seite. Verkleidung und Sitzposition einer 703RR lassen an saubere Rennstreckenluft denken. Die Luft, die sie tatsächlich atmet, ist überwiegend die der Straße: Verkehr, Baustellen und der feine graue Staub, der sich auf einem eine Woche abgestellten Motorrad absetzt. Für diese Luft ist der P14 gemacht. Er gibt Durchfluss dort ab, wo eine Straßenfahrt am wenigsten Zeit verbringt, und hält weit mehr von dem zurück, was die Straße in den Ansaugtrakt wirft.

Was 14 µm bringen und was sie kosten
Der Standard-P08 ist mit 80 µm gewebt; diese Vliesmatte filtert bis 14. Dieser Unterschied ist der ganze Grund, sie einzubauen, und er wird mit Durchfluss bezahlt: 1.800 Liter je Quadratmeter pro Sekunde gegenüber 5.050 beim P08. Keine der beiden Zahlen ist eine Rangfolge. Bei gleichmäßigem Straßentempo zieht der Motor nur einen kleinen Teil dessen, was beide Elemente durchlassen, die feinere Matte kostet dort also fast nichts. Die Kosten zeigen sich, wenn der Dreizylinder weit offen nahe dem oberen Ende seines Drehzahlbands gehalten wird – der Zustand, in dem ein Trackday lebt und den eine Straßenfahrt nur besucht.
Wann Sie ihn weglassen sollten
Fährt eine 703RR regelmäßig Trackdays oder verbringt ihr Besitzer einfach viel Zeit hoch im Drehzahlband auf sauberen Straßen, ist der P08 das bessere Element und der P14 der falsche Tausch. Dasselbe gilt für jede Leistungserwartung: Der P14 ist kein Tuningteil, und nichts, was man in eine Serien-Airbox legt, macht das Motorrad stärker. Er ist eine Schutzentscheidung für schmutzige Luft, kostet etwa sieben Zehntel des Standardelements und ist genau so viel wert wie der Staub auf Ihren Straßen.
Pflege und Reinigung
Nehmen Sie den SM300P14 heraus und blasen Sie die Matte mit Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen durch, über die ganze Fläche. Hat er stärkere Beladung aufgenommen, waschen Sie ihn in lauwarmem Wasser mit mildem Spülmittel und spülen, bis es klar abläuft. Trocknen Sie ihn nur in bewegter Luft bei Raumtemperatur – Heißluftpistolen, Heizkörper und Flammen schädigen die Fasern – und setzen Sie ihn trocken und unbehandelt wieder ein.
