Sprint Filter fertigt ein noch strengeres Medium als dieses, und es ist für die R 1250 RS nicht gelistet. Für diesen Luftfilterkasten sind drei Elemente katalogisiert: das Standardgewebe, diese 14-Mikron-Matte und das Rennsportgewebe am offenen Ende. Das 7-Mikron-Medium, das an anderer Stelle bei den Boxern auftaucht, ist ausschließlich für die GS-Modelle vorgesehen. Bei einer RS endet „fein" bei vierzehn Mikron – und es spricht einiges dafür, dass es bei einem Sporttourer ohnehin genau dort enden sollte.

Eine Baureihe, die vor dem Extrem endet
Eine Fitment-Liste ist eine Sammlung von Entscheidungen über den Einsatzzweck. Das strengste Medium im Katalog richtet sich an Maschinen, die ganze Tage in aufgewirbeltem Staub verbringen sollen, und keine noch so große Begeisterung macht aus einem verkleideten Straßenmotorrad eine solche Maschine. Was eine RS erlebt, ist unregelmäßig: zwei trockene Wochen im Spätsommer, eine Baustelle, ein Schotterparkplatz, die Staubfahne hinter dem vorausfahrenden Lieferwagen. Genau für diesen Fall wurde diese Matte gebaut, und sie beantwortet ihn, ohne den Durchsatz aufzugeben, den das Extremmedium verlangt.
Die beiden veröffentlichten Zahlen
Das sind die Öffnungsweite, vierzehn Mikron, und der Nenndurchsatz, 1.800 l/m²/sek gegenüber den 5.050 des Standardgewebes – etwa ein Drittel der Luftmenge auf derselben Materialfläche. Feiner hält mehr zurück und lässt weniger durch; dieser Zusammenhang ist fest und kein Material entkommt ihm, die Entscheidung betrifft also die Bedingungen, nicht die Qualität. Die Reduzierung würde sich bei weit geöffneter Drosselklappe und lange gehaltener hoher Drehzahl bemerkbar machen, was ein beladener Sporttourer auf öffentlicher Straße nicht tut. Und die ehrliche Grenze gilt hier wie überall: Ein Element in einem unveränderten Luftfilterkasten bringt einer Standard-R-1250-RS keine spürbare Mehrleistung.
Pflege und Reinigung
Bei der Wartung wird nichts verbraucht. Ein Luftschlauch, an die saubere Seite gehalten, treibt den Staub auf seinem Eintrittsweg zurück hinaus – die einzige Richtung, die bei einem Vliesmaterial funktioniert. Hinterlässt eine Saison einen Film, der sich nicht löst, entfernen ihn handwarmes Wasser und etwas mildes Reinigungsmittel, und das Element wird gespült, bis das ablaufende Wasser klar bleibt. Anschließend trocknet es so lange wie nötig in zirkulierender Luft, weit entfernt von Heizquellen und jeder Flamme, denn Hitze ist das Einzige, was das Medium endgültig zerstört. Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
Gefertigt für die BMW R 1250 RS von 2019 bis 2023, als Ersatz für das Originalelement im unveränderten Luftfilterkasten. Vier Maschinen teilen sich diese Nummer – die R, die RS und die RT der 1250er-Generation sowie die R 1200 GS Adventure – und der Reiter „Fitment" nennt die Baujahre für jede von ihnen.
