Zwei Maschinen von elf
Eine Fitment-Liste hält fest, was ein Hersteller für eine bestimmte Maschine freigegeben hat und wofür er einsteht. Erscheint ein Filtermedium nur für zwei von elf Modellen, die sich ein Gehäuse teilen, ist die sinnvolle Lesart, dass genau diese beiden dafür konzipiert wurden – nicht, dass die anderen es physisch nicht aufnehmen könnten. Was das Vlies kostet und bringt
Die beiden Prüfstandswerte bewegen sich in entgegengesetzte Richtungen, und beide zählen. Der Durchfluss sinkt vom Standardgewebe mit 5.050 auf 1.800; die Rückhaltung feiner Schwebstoffe steigt deutlich stärker, als dieses Verhältnis vermuten lässt. Keiner der beiden Werte macht das eine Medium besser als das andere – sie beschreiben unterschiedliche Einsatzbedingungen, und die Reduzierung gilt auf sauberen Straßen genauso wie auf staubigen. Was das Vlies nicht tut: Leistung hinzufügen. Im Serien-Luftfilterkasten eingebaut, lässt es eine Serien-Scrambler genau so stark wie zuvor – nicht stärker.
Pflege und Reinigung
Tief eingelagertes Material gibt seinen Schmutz nur widerwillig wieder her, planen Sie also Zeit statt Kraft ein. Zuerst geduldig Luft mit niedrigem Druck auf der sauberen Seite; dann eine Wäsche in lauwarmem Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel, gespült bis das Wasser farblos bleibt. Das Trocknen ist der Schritt, den man nicht überstürzen sollte: bewegte Luft bei Raumtemperatur, bis das Vlies durch und durch trocken ist, dabei jede Wärmequelle fernhalten.
