Fragt man, was ein Luftfilter einen Motor kostet, lautet die ehrliche Antwort, dass sich die Zahl weigert, stillzustehen. Ein sauberes Element nimmt sich einen kleinen Teil des Drucks am Einlass; dasselbe Element halb beladen nimmt sich einen größeren; und die Kurve zwischen diesen beiden Zuständen ist das, womit ein Besitzer tatsächlich lebt. Bei einer F4RC, gelistet von 2015 bis 2026 und in der Regel hart gefahren, wenn überhaupt gefahren, ist diese Kurve das gesamte Argument für R189S-SBK.

Die Zahl, die sich bewegt
Der Verlust über ein Medium steigt mit dem durchströmenden Volumen, ist also im Verkehr am kleinsten und bei weit geöffneter Drosselklappe hoch im Drehzahlbereich am größten. Er steigt auch, während sich das Medium füllt, und bei Papier ist dieser zweite Anstieg dauerhaft: Jeder Kilometer schiebt die Kurve ein Stück weiter nach oben, und sie sinkt erst, wenn das Panel entsorgt wird. Druckluft setzt die Polyesterversion stattdessen zurück. Der praktische Effekt ist keine zusätzliche Leistung – ein Einsatzfilter macht ein Serienmotorrad nicht spürbar stärker –, sondern eine Ansaugung, die sich im elften Monat eines Serviceintervalls ähnlich verhält wie im ersten.
Zwölf Baujahre sind eine lange Zeit für eine Ansaugung
Die F4RC ist seit 2015 gelistet, sodass eine früh in dieser Baureihe gekaufte Maschine bereits ein Jahrzehnt Luft durch sich gezogen hat. Filter altern nicht nach Kilometerstand; sie altern nach Volumen und Sauberkeit der Luft, die sie durchlaufen hat, weshalb zwei Motorräder mit identischem Kilometerstand innerhalb der Airbox in völlig unterschiedlichem Zustand sein können. Ein waschbares Element macht daraus statt Vermutung etwas Nachprüfbares: herausnehmen, reinigen, erneut ansehen. Nichts am Zustand der Ansaugung muss aus einem Serviceheft abgeleitet werden.
Pflege und Reinigung
Zwischen Sessions ist das Werkzeug eine Druckluftdüse, an die saubere Seite des R189S-SBK gehalten, nach außen geblasen, bis das Gewebe wieder gleichmäßig gefärbt ist. Zwischen Saisons verdient es womöglich mehr: lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Spülmittel, sanft durch das Medium gearbeitet, dann gespült, bis das ablaufende Wasser klar ist. Danach braucht das Element nur Zeit und bewegte Luft. Hitze anzuwenden – Heißluftgerät, Heizkörper, offene Flamme – schädigt Polyester, weshalb das die eine Abkürzung ist, die man niemals nehmen sollte. Es kehrt trocken und unbehandelt in die Airbox zurück. Die Reinigungsanleitung liegt im Reiter Downloads.
