Ein waschbarer Luftfilter ist der eine Wartungspunkt an einer Tiger 800, der aus reiner guter Absicht verloren gehen kann. Der Wartungsplan führt den Luftfilter als zu erneuerndes Teil, und eine Werkstatt, die diese Liste abarbeitet, tut genau das, was dort steht: Element raus, neues rein. War es ein Sprint Filter, wurde damit ein Teil weggeworfen, das nie hätte ersetzt werden müssen – von einem Mechaniker, der nichts falsch gemacht hat. Das ist kein Argument gegen den Werkstattservice. Es ist ein Argument für einen einzigen Satz, bevor die Schlüssel übergeben werden.

- Wird mit Luft statt mit Geld gewartet, ausgelegt für die Lebensdauer der Maschine, zwei Jahre Garantie ab Kauf
Damit die Anweisung auch ankommt
Drei Gewohnheiten sorgen dafür, dass das Teil dort bleibt, wo es hingehört. Halten Sie den Hinweis schriftlich auf dem Auftragszettel fest, statt ihn nur am Tresen zu erwähnen, denn wer das Motorrad annimmt, ist selten dieselbe Person, die den Luftfilterkasten öffnet. Bitten Sie als feste Regel darum, ausgetauschte Teile zurückzuerhalten; das kostet nichts und macht einen versehentlichen Tausch noch am selben Tag sichtbar statt erst ein Jahr später. Und lassen Sie den Einbau bei der nächsten Inspektion im Serviceheft vermerken, damit er mit der Maschine reist, nicht nur in Ihrer Erinnerung.
Warum der Wartungsplan „erneuern“ sagt
Das Intervall im Handbuch ist nicht falsch, es gehört nur zu einem anderen Teil. Ein Zellulose-Element lässt sich nicht in seinen Ursprungszustand zurückversetzen, sodass ihm nur der Austausch als Wartung bleibt, und der Plan wurde entsprechend geschrieben. Ändert sich das Medium, ändert sich das Verb mit ihm, während das Intervall gleich bleibt: Bei der XCx, XR und XRX wird die Inspektion weiterhin bei derselben Laufleistung fällig, und der PM124S kommt heraus, bekommt seine Luft und geht wieder hinein. Dieses Element macht einen Serien-800er-Dreizylinder nicht schneller. Es gibt dem Motor einen Ansaugwiderstand, der immer wieder zu seinem niedrigen Ausgangswert zurückkehrt, statt bis zum nächsten Service anzusteigen.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft übernimmt die Routinearbeit: den Schlauch an die saubere Seite halten und den Schmutz durch die schmutzige Seite hinaustreiben. Haben feuchte oder gesalzene Straßen mehr als nur Staub hinterlassen, erledigen warmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel den Rest, klar gespült. Das Trocknen erfolgt in ruhiger Luft und dauert, so lange es dauert – kein Heißluftgerät, keine Flamme, nichts wird feucht wieder eingebaut. Ein Ölschritt entfällt danach vollständig. Passform & Kompatibilität
Gefertigt für die Triumph Tiger 800 XCx, XR und XRX der Baujahre 2015 bis 2019. Dasselbe Element erscheint hier in drei Einträgen und reicht bis zu den ersten 800er-Tigern von 2011 zurück.
