Das ist die Art von Detail, die einen Besitzer später überrascht – nicht am Tag des Kaufs, sondern acht oder zehn Jahre danach, wenn ein Verschleißteil für eine kurz gelistete Variante still und leise aus der Produktion verschwunden ist und die Suche beginnt. Der PM187S beantwortet das auf die undramatischste Art: ein waschbares Element, ausgelegt auf die Lebensdauer des Motorrads, sodass sich die Frage nach der Beschaffung eines Ersatzes weitgehend erübrigt.

Was eine Ein-Jahres-Listung nicht ändert
Mechanisch nichts. Der Bagger teilt sich seinen Luftfilterkasten mit dem GT, der GTL und der GTL Exclusive, daher ist dieses Element weder selten noch eine Sonderbestellung – die kurze Zeitspanne betrifft den Modellnamen, nicht das Gehäuse. Das lohnt sich klar auszusprechen, denn eine Ein-Saison-Variante zieht schnell die Annahme nach sich, ihre Teile würden zum Problem. Hier gilt das Gegenteil: Das Element ist das am breitesten geteilte Bauteil der Liste, und die Maschinen, die es teilen, wurden über fast ein ganzes Jahrzehnt gebaut.
Was das Medium leistet
Der P08 ist eine trockene Lage gewebtes Polyester mit einer 80-µm-Öffnung, mit einer Nenndurchflussrate von 5.050 l/m²/sek und einer angegebenen Rückhalterate von 93,13 Prozent bei 100-Mikron-Testpartikeln. Er ist die Standardspezifikation für die Straße und kein Leistungsteil: eingesetzt in einen unveränderten Luftfilterkasten macht er einen serienmäßigen Bagger nicht spürbar stärker, und keine ehrliche Beschreibung sollte das nahelegen. Was er stattdessen bietet, ist eine Drosselung, die niedrig beginnt und bei jeder Inspektion auf diesen Wert zurückgeführt wird, statt stetig zu steigen, bis das Element entsorgt wird.
Pflege und Reinigung
Zuerst Luft: Eine an die saubere Seite des PM187S gehaltene Druckluftleitung treibt die Saisonbelastung auf demselben Weg wieder hinaus, auf dem sie hereinkam – das dauert Minuten und lässt sich mit dem Element in der Hand neben dem Motorrad erledigen. Waschen deckt den Rest ab – lauwarmes Wasser, etwas mildes Reinigungsmittel, Spülen bis es klar abläuft – und das ist weit seltener nötig, als man erwarten würde. Das Trocknen folgt danach einer Regel ohne Ausnahme: nur bewegte Luft. Heizungen, Öfen und Flammen ruinieren allesamt das Medium, und das Element muss trocken zurückkehren und ungeölt bleiben. Passform & Kompatibilität
Gelistet für den BMW K 1600 Bagger des Baujahrs 2017, eingesetzt im Serien-Luftfilterkasten ohne Änderung und ohne Remapping.
