Der Zusatz Adventure brachte einen größeren Tank, eine höhere Scheibe, breitere Lenker und mehr Metall rund um das Motorrad. Nichts geändert hat sich dagegen an allem, was der Motor atmet: Der Luftfilterkasten der F 800 GS Adventure ist der Luftfilterkasten der F 800 GS, und beide nehmen dasselbe Element auf. Das lohnt sich zu wissen, denn dieser Namenszusatz wird gern als Leistungsangabe gelesen, und der Ansaugtrakt hat nie eine solche bekommen. Der PM35S ist das, was hineingehört.
Wichtige Merkmale
- Einlagiges, trockenes Polyestergewebe; nichts wird geölt, also kann auch nichts stromabwärts mitgerissen werden
- Ausgelegt auf 5.050 l/m²/sek. durch 80-µm-Öffnungen – der P08, spezifiziert für Straßen- und Rennstreckeneinsatz
- Fäden ab ø 22 Mikron, getrennt angegeben von der Maschenweite, die sie zwischen sich lassen
- Etwa doppelte Filterfläche gegenüber anderen Performance-Filtern, im gleichen Serien-Gehäuse
- Passt in den unveränderten Luftfilterkasten, wo das Papierelement saß; nichts wird geschnitten, nichts umprogrammiert
- Wird mit Luft regeneriert statt ersetzt, zwei Jahre Garantie ab Kaufdatum
Ein Gehäuse, ein Medium
Sprint Filter stellt mehrere Gewebe her – ein feines Vlies für Staub, ein wasserabweisendes Gewebe für schlechtes Wetter, ein Renngewebe für die Strecke –, doch nicht jedes wird für jeden Luftfilterkasten produziert, und für diesen führt unser Katalog nur einen einzigen Eintrag. Das ist er. Es gibt hier weder ein feineres Material, auf das man aufsteigen könnte, noch ein gröberes, mit dem man sich Durchfluss erkaufen könnte – das macht die Entscheidung kurz und setzt eine Grenze, die man klar benennen sollte: Wo der Untergrund wirklich staubig ist, liegt die Abhilfe bei dieser Maschine in kürzeren Reinigungsintervallen, nicht in einer anderen Artikelnummer.
Was vom Gehäuse tatsächlich verlangt wird
Mehr Reichweite bedeutet längere Tage und, nicht selten, jene Art von Untergrund, über die ein großer Tank getragen wird. Ein Element lädt sich entsprechend der durchgeströmten Luft, nicht entsprechend der Kilometer auf dem Tacho – eine Woche trockener Schotter kann also mehr bewirken als ein ganzer Winter Pendelverkehr. Dieses Element begegnet dem mit Fläche: fast doppelte Filterfläche gegenüber anderen Performance-Elementen im Serienrahmen, dazu eine Druckluftpistole, um es wieder in den Ausgangszustand zu bringen. Schneller macht es das Motorrad nicht; das tut im Serienkasten nichts.
Pflege und Reinigung
Zuerst Druckluft, von der sauberen Seite nach außen, und bei einem abseits der Straße bewegten Motorrad lohnt sich das häufiger, als das Serviceheft verlangt. Hat sich mehr als Staub angesammelt, lösen lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Spülmittel den Rest; spülen, bis das Wasser klar bleibt. Danach folgt der Schritt, der bei Eile Elemente kostet: Trocknen, ausschließlich an der Luft, so lange es dauert, fern von Heizkörpern und offener Flamme, und niemals feucht wieder eingesetzt. Passform & Kompatibilität
Spezifiziert für die zwischen 2012 und 2018 gebaute BMW F 800 GS Adventure, im unveränderten Serien-Luftfilterkasten. Zehn Maschinen von BMW und Husqvarna teilen sich diese Artikelnummer. Eine Zeile verdient besondere Aufmerksamkeit: Die dort genannte einfache F 800 GS ist das Modell von 2007 bis 2018, während das ab 2023 unter diesem Namen verkaufte Motorrad einen völlig anderen Luftfilterkasten verwendet. Baujahre sind im Reiter „Passform" aufgeführt.
