Von den drei Motorrädern, die sich dieses Gehäuse teilen, ist die 703RR das einzige, bei dem ein Racing-Gewebe überhaupt eine vernünftige Frage ist. Die 703R ETC ist ein Naked Bike, die 703T ETC ein Tourer; die RR hat die Verkleidung, die Sitzposition und die Besitzer, die sie am ehesten auf eine Rennstrecke bringen. Sprint Filter listet den P08 F1-85 für alle drei, doch nur bei dieser deckt sich die Listung mit dem, wie das Motorrad tatsächlich genutzt werden könnte. Selbst hier ist er eine Spezifikation für einen bestimmten Plan, keine Aufwertung für jede RR.

Was ein Trackday von einem Filter verlangt
Auf der Rennstrecke läuft der Motor über lange Abschnitte weit offen nahe dem oberen Ende seines Bands, und nur in diesem Zustand wird der zusätzliche Durchfluss des F1-85 abgerufen. Es ist zugleich der Zustand, in dem Staub, Gummi und Abrieb anderer Motorräder den Ansaugtrakt erreichen. Ein Racing-Gewebe beantwortet die erste Bedingung und überlässt dem Fahrer die zweite: Das Element kommt nach einem harten Turn heraus und wird gereinigt, nicht erst beim nächsten Service. Diese Disziplin setzt das Teil voraus, und ohne sie ist der höhere Durchfluss nichts wert.
Warum die meisten RR trotzdem den P08 fahren sollten
Nichts an diesem Element macht eine Serien-703RR stärker, und kein Filter in einer unveränderten Airbox tut das. Sein Vorteil ist Kapazität, und Kapazität zählt erst, wenn der Rest von Ansaugtrakt und Auspuff nicht mehr die Grenze setzt. Eine RR auf der Straße oder eine mit ein paar Trackdays im Jahr gewinnt dadurch nichts Messbares, und der Standard-P08 hält bei 100 Mikron fast genauso viel zurück, zu etwas weniger als dem halben Preis. Kaufen Sie dieses Element als Teil eines Aufbaus oder einer Rennsaison, nicht als erste Umrüstung.
Pflege und Reinigung
Reinigen Sie den SM300S F1-85 mit Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen, und zwar nach jedem harten Turn auf der Strecke. Was die Luft nicht löst, kommt in lauwarmem Wasser mit mildem Spülmittel heraus; spülen Sie, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Lassen Sie ihn in bewegter Luft bei Raumtemperatur trocknen – keine Heißluftpistole, kein Heizkörper, keine Flamme – und bauen Sie ihn trocken und unbehandelt ein.
