Es ist eine naheliegende Annahme, dass das teuerste Element einer Reihe auch das feinste ist. Bei diesem Luftfiltergehäuse ist die Annahme nahezu genau umgekehrt. Die beiden Vliese sind die feinen, T12 mit 7 Mikron und P14 mit 14; dann folgen der Standard-P08 mit 80 und dieses Racing-Gewebe, dessen 85 ein Name und keine Mikron-Angabe ist – und nach Preis geordnet läuft die Liste fast genau gegen die Annahme: Die beiden feinsten Medien sind die günstigsten der vier, das Standardgewebe liegt darüber, und der F1-85 kostet etwa das 2,3-Fache dessen, was der P08 für dasselbe Gehäuse verlangt.

Die Preisliste ist keine Filterrangfolge
Was ein Medium kostet, sagt etwas über das Gewebe und den Prozess aus, der es herstellt, sowie über den Markt, für den es entwickelt wurde. Es ist keine Rangstufe. Das extreme Vlies am unteren Ende der Preisspalte filtert um eine Größenordnung feiner als das Gewebe an ihrer Spitze, und ein Käufer, der die Liste von oben nach unten abarbeitet und erwartet, dass Qualität dem Geld folgt, landet bei einem nach Buchhaltung statt nach Luft gewählten Teil. Das ist das mit Abstand Nützlichste, was man wissen sollte, bevor man die vier für dieses Gehäuse angebotenen Elemente vergleicht.
Welches eine 790 haben sollte
Fast immer den Standard-P08. Dies ist eine Straßenmaschine eines bestimmten Alters, und der zusätzliche Durchsatz, den der F1-85 verfügbar macht, wird nur bei Vollgas im oberen Drehzahlbereich abgerufen, was bei jeder Fahrt eine geringe Zahl an Sekunden ausmacht. Er wird in keinem Fall eine der beiden 790-Versionen schneller machen, und bei der A2-gedrosselten L liegt die Grenze in einer Führerscheinklasse, an die kein Ansaugteil auch nur herankommen kann. Der PM175S F1-85 verdient sich seinen Platz dort, wo die Maschine im Wettbewerb eingesetzt und das Element entsprechend kontrolliert wird.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft an die saubere Seite gehalten und nach außen getrieben ist die gesamte Routine, und bei einem Racing-Gewebe geht das schnell, weil das Medium seine Last bereitwillig abgibt. Wasser und etwas mildes Reinigungsmittel erledigen alles Fettige; spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Getrocknet wird ausschließlich an bewegter frischer Luft – Hitze zerstört Polyester, also keine Heißluftpistolen, keine Heizungen, keine Flamme – und das Element wird trocken und unbehandelt wieder eingebaut. Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
Der P08 F1-85 für die KTM 790 Duke und 790 Duke L, Modelljahre 2018 bis 2020. Für diesen Code sind fünf Modelle gelistet, die sich alle ein Luftfiltergehäuse über drei Motorgrößen hinweg teilen. Da das Gehäuse vier verschiedene Medien aufnimmt, gibt der Elementcode ebenso das Medium wie die Passgenauigkeit an.
