Es gibt einen einfachen Weg herauszufinden, für wen ein Teil gedacht ist, und es ist nicht der Werbetext. Sprint Filter listet dieses Element bei etwas mehr als dem Doppelten des Standard-Gewebeelements für denselben Luftfilterkasten und bei etwa dem Dreifachen des feinen Vlieses, das ebenfalls hineinpasst. An der Maschine ändert sich zwischen diesen drei Optionen nichts: Das Gehäuse ist identisch, die Passform ist identisch, der Einbau ist identisch. Bezahlt wird für das Gewebe, und konkret für seinen Durchsatz. Das PM210S F1-85 ist die Rennsport-Spezifikation für diesen Luftfilterkasten, als solche gelistet.

Wofür der Unterschied bezahlt wird
Nicht in erster Linie für die Filterwirkung: Die 85 im Namen ist keine Mikron-Angabe, und im 100-Mikron-Herstellertest hält dieses Gewebe 95,22 Prozent zurück gegenüber 93,13 beim Standardelement – ein kleiner Abstand, kein Kaufgrund. Auch nicht für die Passform, da alle drei Medien in dasselbe Gehäuse passen. Es ist der Durchflusswert, 15.000 l/m²/sek gegenüber 5.050, und dieser Wert zahlt sich nur aus, wenn etwas im Ansaug- oder Auspuffweg tatsächlich danach verlangt. Bei einer ansonsten serienmäßigen Maschine geht dem Luftfilterkasten und den Drosselklappen der Bedarf lange vor dem Gewebe aus. Dieses Element gehört an ein Motorrad, das für einen bestimmten Zweck aufgebaut wurde, und der Katalog sagt das, indem er es als Rennsportteil bezeichnet.
Die Behauptung, die nicht aufgestellt wird
Es wird eine Serien-1200 nicht spürbar stärker machen. Das tut kein einsetzbares Element, unabhängig vom Gewebe, und ein Angebot, das etwas anderes andeutet, verkauft eine Geschichte statt ein Teil. Was für jedes Medium in diesem Katalog gilt, gilt auch hier: Der Nutzen liegt in einem niedrigeren und stabileren Ansaugwiderstand über das gesamte Wartungsintervall hinweg und in einem Bauteil, das gereinigt statt neu gekauft wird. Welches Trimm-Level auf dem Tank steht, macht dabei übrigens keinen Unterschied, denn die Standard-1200 und die S nehmen dasselbe Element auf.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft, an die saubere Seite gehalten und nach außen geführt, ist die gesamte normale Wartung; die Beladung verlässt das Gewebe auf demselben Weg, auf dem sie eingedrungen ist. Wo sich ein Film gebildet hat, den Luft allein nicht löst, hilft handwarmes Wasser mit etwas mildem Reinigungsmittel, gespült, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Das Trocknen erfolgt ohne Eile bei Umgebungstemperatur, denn Hitze schadet Polyester: kein Heißluftgebläse, kein Heizkörper, keine offene Flamme. Das PM210S F1-85 kehrt trocken und unbehandelt in das Gehäuse zurück, genau wie es die Verpackung verlassen hat. Das Wartungsblatt finden Sie im Downloads-Tab.
