Zwei Dinge sollen sich angeblich ändern, wenn ein P08 F1-85 in eine Honda CB125R eingebaut wird, und nur eines davon tut es tatsächlich. Das Medium lässt 15.000 l/m²/sek durch, wo der Standard-P08 5.050 durchlässt. Die andere vermeintliche Änderung, ein gröberes Gewebe, aus dem Namen herausgelesen, gibt es nicht: Die 85 ist keine Porengröße, und im Herstellertest hält der F1-85 95,22 % der 100-Mikron-Partikel zurück, der P08 93,13 %. An dieser Maschine hat die zusätzliche Luft nirgendwo hin: Ein A1-Einzylinder ist auf eine feste Leistung ausgelegt und typgenehmigt, und sein Serienansaugtrakt war nie das, was ihn dort begrenzt hat. Ein ungewisser Gewinn, der nichts an Filterung kostet, nur Geld — das ist die ehrliche Form dieses Kaufs, und deshalb passt der SM219S F1-85 zu einer CB125R, die im Rennen eingesetzt wird, und zu sehr wenigen, die es nicht sind.

Die Seite des Kompromisses, die sich auszahlt
Durchsatz lohnt sich, wenn etwas stromabwärts danach verlangt. Bei einer rennvorbereiteten CB125R mit freierem Auspuff, eigener Gemischaufbereitung und einem Motor, der nach einem in Stunden gezählten Plan zerlegt wird, kann der Ansaugtrakt nahe der Höchstdrehzahl zum Engpass werden, und ein Gewebe mit dreifachem Durchsatz ist dort eine echte Antwort. Bei einem Serienmotorrad ist das eine Kapazität, die niemand angefordert hat. Die 125er bringt die für ihre Klasse zulässige Leistung, egal was in der Airbox sitzt, und Honda hat das Originalelement bereits mit Reserve ausgelegt.
Wofür der Straßenfahrer bezahlt
Auf der Straße kostet der F1-85 keinen Schutz — sein Gewebe ist nicht gröber als das des P08, was auch immer der Name andeutet —, aber er ist Geld für eine Kapazität, die eine Serien-CB125R nie erreicht. Die beiden Seiten dieses Kaufs laufen nach unterschiedlichen Uhren: Der Nutzen tritt nur unter Bedingungen auf, die eine Serien-CB125R nie erreicht, der Preis wird einmal an der Kasse bezahlt. Auf der Straße gefahren, ist dieses Motorrad mit dem P08 bei 80 Mikron und 5.050 l/m²/sek besser bedient, und dort, wo die Straßen staubig sind, mit dem P14, der bis 14 Mikron geht und dafür Durchsatz abgibt.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft erledigt den Großteil der Arbeit: an der sauberen Seite ansetzen und den Schmutz auf demselben Weg herausdrücken, auf dem er hineinkam, dann den SM219S F1-85 trocken wieder einbauen. Wenn eine Saison mehr zurücklässt, als Luft allein lösen kann, erledigt lauwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel den Rest, gespült, bis es klar abläuft, und an der frischen Luft getrocknet — nie an der Heizung oder über einer Flamme.
