Beginnen wir mit dem Verhältnis, denn das fällt jedem zuerst auf. Dieses Element ist mit etwa dem 2,3-Fachen dessen gelistet, was der Standard-P08 für denselben Luftfilterkasten kostet, und gut dem Dreifachen des P14. Der Unterschied kauft eine einzige Eigenschaft: eine Nenndurchflussrate von 15.000 l/m²/sek durch das Element, wo das Standardgewebe mit 5.050 spezifiziert ist. Alles andere – trockenes Polyester, kein Öl, Reinigung mit Druckluft, ausgelegt auf die Lebensdauer der Maschine – leistet das günstigere Element bereits. Bei einem K 1600 Bagger ist das ein Satz, den man vor der Bestellung zweimal lesen sollte.

Für wen sich das Verhältnis lohnt
Es gibt eine kurze und ehrliche Antwort. Dieses Medium existiert für Motoren, die unter kontrollierten Bedingungen anhaltend unter Volllast laufen – Sprint Filter, nach eigenen Angaben der meistverwendete Luftfilter in MotoGP und World Superbike, verkauft es an die Menschen, die dort arbeiten. Ein K 1600 Bagger lebt nicht in dieser Welt: eine langbeinige, schwer verkleidete Tourenmaschine, bei der der Ansaugtrakt bei Weitem nicht das erste Hindernis ist. Wenn diese Seite eine Aufgabe hat, dann diese: zu sagen, dass der Standard-PM187S hier das sinnvolle Element ist, und dass jeder, der das F1-85 bestellt, seinen Grund dafür benennen können sollte.
Was der Preis nicht beinhaltet
Die Eigenschaften, für die man Sprint Filter kauft, stecken auch im günstigeren Element. Trockenes Polyester ohne Öl, sodass nichts auf einen Sensor wandern kann. Ein passgenauer Einbau ohne Zuschnitt, ohne Adapter, ohne Remapping. Druckluft statt jährlichem Neukauf, eine auf die Lebensdauer des Motorrads abgestimmte Auslegung, zwei Jahre Garantie. Nichts davon ist ein Premium-Merkmal; all das ist über die gesamte Baureihe Standard. Der Aufpreis kauft eine Durchflussrate – und kein passgenaues Element, auch dieses hier nicht, verleiht einem serienmäßigen Bagger spürbar mehr Leistung.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die Wartung des PM187S F1-85 folgt derselben trockenen Routine wie der Rest der Baureihe: Druckluft auf die saubere Seite, nach außen geführt, entfernt die Straßenbelastung vom Gewebe, ohne die Fasern zu strapazieren. Eine Wäsche – warmes Wasser, eine Spur mildes Reinigungsmittel, gespült, bis das Wasser klar abläuft – ist für Rückstände gedacht, die Luft allein nicht löst. Dann folgt der eine Schritt mit einer festen Regel: Das Trocknen erfolgt in bewegter Luft in seinem eigenen Tempo, ohne Heizung, Ofen oder Flamme in der Nähe, und das Element wird trocken und ungeölt wieder eingebaut. Passform & Kompatibilität
Gefertigt für den BMW K 1600 Bagger des Baujahrs 2017, ein direkter Ersatz im Serien-Luftfilterkasten ohne jegliche Änderung. Dieses Gehäuse trägt alle vier Varianten der Baureihe, weshalb jedes dafür ausgelegte Medium der Reihe nach für jeden Namen katalogisiert wird, mit den entsprechenden Jahren im Fitment-Tab.
