Sprint Filter P08 F1-85 Air Filter for Racing – Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 (2021–2023) PM200S F1-85

A filter medium can be got wrong in two directions, and on the Svartpilen 125 the two are not equally forgiving. Go finer than standard and you hand back flow — on a 124.7 cc single built to the A1 licence class, flow it was never in a position to take up. Go coarser and you hand back mesh. The P08 F1-85 is Sprint Filter's racing weave, opened to 85 microns and rated at 15,000 litres per square metre per second; the standard P08 for this airbox filters at 80 microns and flows 5,050. One of those mistakes is washed out at the next service. The other is woven into the cloth.

The mistake you can undo, and the one you cannot

Suppose you fit the finer P14, a dry nonwoven at 14 microns and 1,800 l/m²/sec, and your roads turn out cleaner than expected. You have parted with passage that a small single under a legal power ceiling was never going to use, and nothing else has happened: the element washes back to the restriction it started at. Now suppose the wider weave is the wrong call. Mesh width is not a condition the element is in, it is what the element is: no amount of compressed air narrows it to 80 microns again, and the band the finer cloth would have caught keeps passing for as long as the part is in the box.

What the price asks of the smallest bike on the list

Thirteen machines share this code at one price, and the 125 has the smallest engine among them. In this housing it asks a little over two and a half times what the P08 asks, for a part of identical size in the same box. It will not make a standard 125 noticeably quicker, and no page should suggest otherwise: what these elements offer is an intake restriction that begins low and, because polyester is washed rather than discarded, can be put back there rather than climbing across a year.

Care and cleaning

The PM200S F1-85 is serviced dry: compressed air against the clean face, worked outward, so the dust leaves by the side that gathered it. On a road-ridden 125 that is usually the whole job. When air stops being enough, lukewarm water with a mild detergent finishes it — rinse until it runs clear, then dry the element in open air alone. For the Husqvarna Svartpilen 125, 2021 to 2023, replacing the standard panel in an unmodified airbox. Thirteen Husqvarna and KTM machines are listed against this code, and the Svartpilen 125 sold from 2024 takes a different one, so check the model year. The list is in the Fitment tab.
