Everything between the intake mouth of a Ninja H2 and its combustion chambers is fixed hardware: ducting, airbox volume, the supercharger and its drive, the throttle bodies. None of it changes over the life of the motorcycle. One item in that path does — the filter panel, the only part that gathers dirt, gains resistance and can be put back where it began. On a supercharged engine that gives the panel a slightly different job description: whatever pressure drop it produces sits directly in front of the compressor inlet, and the compressor works against it for as long as it is there.
Key Features
- A single woven polyester layer, used dry; no filter oil is involved at any stage
- 80 microns of filtration with 5,050 l/m²/sec of air flow
- Retention measured at 93.13 % of 100-micron particles, against 76.42 % for oiled cotton
- Around twice the filtering surface of the usual performance element
- Direct replacement in the series airbox — nothing cut and no remapping needed
- Cleaned and refitted for the life of the motorcycle; two years of warranty
The only variable in a fixed path
A paper panel begins life at its lowest resistance and rises from there, invisibly, until somebody replaces it. That climb is the one term in the H2 intake nobody specified and nobody monitors. The PM153S does not remove the term but makes it resettable: ten minutes with an air line and the cloth is back at its starting condition rather than a season further along. So what is on offer is stability, not gain. A drop-in filter returns only the restriction it caused itself: a standard H2 with this panel is not noticeably stronger than one with paper.
Twice the cloth, and a dry one
Two properties of the medium do the work. The first is area: roughly double the working surface of a usual performance element, so a given quantity of dust covers a smaller fraction of it and the restriction climbs more slowly between cleans. The second is that the polyester is dry and nothing is applied to it, so there is no film to be thinned by rain, re-dosed after washing or carried anywhere by the air moving through. Filtration comes from the weave itself, with thread from ø 22 microns upwards, rather than from a coating.
Care and cleaning
An air line is the whole routine: hold it against the clean face and blow outwards so the dust leaves the way it arrived. If the bike has been out in weather or stood over a winter, wash the element in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear. Drying is by moving air alone — never a heat gun, a radiator or a flame — and it goes back into the box completely dry. Check that the lid closes onto the seal. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Cut for the series airbox of the Kawasaki ZX1000 Ninja H2 built from 2015 to 2026. Three machines share the element: the H2 itself and the Bimota Tesi H2 and Tesi H2 Tera, both on the same supercharged engine from 2020. All three appear under the Fitment tab — the fitment follows the airbox, not the badge.
