Worauf die Wasserabweisung antwortet
Ein nasses Element ist nicht einfach ein schmutziges. Wasser, das in ein Medium aufgenommen wird, verändert den Widerstand während der Fahrt, und zwar genau in die ungünstige Richtung in dem Moment, in dem das Wetter am schlechtesten ist. Ein wasserabweisendes Gewebe geht genau darauf ein: Das Gewebe stößt Wasser ab, statt es zu halten, sodass der Widerstand, den ein Fahrer auf einer durchnässten Autobahn erlebt, nahe an dem bleibt, was trocken gemessen wurde. Es ist ein Wetter-Teil. Kein Element irgendeiner Art, in diesem Gehäuse oder einem anderen, macht eine Serien-R3 spürbar stärker – was dieses hier bietet, ist ein Ansaugwiderstand, der nicht ansteigt, sobald es zu regnen beginnt.
Ein Rückhaltewert, der zu einem anderen Test gehört
Sprint Filter gibt für den P037 ein Rückhaltevermögen von 91,8 Prozent an, und es lohnt sich, offen zu sagen, was diese Zahl ist. Sie wurde mit 37-µm-Partikeln gemessen, während die für den Standard-P08 veröffentlichten 93,13 Prozent mit 100-µm-Partikeln gemessen wurden. Zwei Tests, zwei Partikelgrößen, und keine Rechnung, die zwischen ihnen verläuft: Der kleinere Prozentsatz hier beschreibt keinen gröberen Filter. Die Werte, die sich direkt vergleichen lassen, sind die Auslegungswerte selbst – 37 µm gegenüber 80, und 4.500 Liter pro Quadratmeter und Sekunde gegenüber 5.050.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die Wartung des K44S-WP ist trotz des Namens Trockenarbeit. Druckluft an der sauberen Seite, nach außen geführt, ist die Routine. Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel lösen, was die Luft übrig lässt, gespült, bis es klar abläuft – das Gewebe stößt Wasser ab, es nimmt dadurch keinen Schaden. Getrocknet wird ausschließlich in offener, bewegter Luft, niemals mit Heißluftpistole, Heizkörper oder offener Flamme, und das Element geht trocken und unbehandelt wieder ein.
