Warum ein Auspuffhersteller eine Abdeckung verkauft
Weil die Leute, die einen Titan-Schalldämpfer für sechshundert Euro kaufen, jene sind, denen wichtig ist, wie das Motorrad im Stand aussieht. Eine Abdeckung ist das Günstigste, was es schützt, und ein Spark-Zeichen darauf ist ein kleines Stück Zugehörigkeit, das den Besitzer nichts extra kostet.
Es ist ein Merchandise-Artikel und kein technischer, und das gehört klar gesagt.
Was eine Abdeckung wirklich leistet
Drei Dinge. Sie hält Staub und Vogelkot von Lack und poliertem Auspuff fern — und das zählt mehr, als es klingt: Beides ätzt eine Oberfläche an, wenn es liegen bleibt. Sie hält direkte Sonne von Kunststoffen und Sitzmaterial fern, und genau die lässt eine acht Jahre alte Verkleidung wie sechzehn aussehen. Und sie macht die Maschine anonym, was auf der Straße nicht nichts ist.
Universelle Passform und ihre Grenzen
Eine Universalabdeckung ist großzügig genug geschnitten, um über die meisten Maschinen zu gehen. An einem großen Tourer mit Topcase wird sie knapp; an einem kleinen Naked ist sie weit und flattert im Wind — und das scheuert über eine Saison an jeder Berührstelle den Lack an.
Wo eine Abdeckung Spiel hat, binden Sie sie fest. Eine lose Abdeckung ist für eine Oberfläche schlimmer als gar keine.
Nie über einen heißen Auspuff
Das gilt für jede Motorradabdeckung und gehört auf die Seite einer, die ein Auspuffhersteller verkauft, besonders wiederholt. Ein Schalldämpfer direkt nach der Fahrt liegt weit über der Temperatur, bei der Abdeckstoff schmilzt, und die Spur bleibt an beiden.
Die Maschine stehen lassen, bis sich der Auspuff anfassen lässt, bevor die Abdeckung darüber kommt.
Drinnen oder draußen
Eine Abdeckung auf einer im Freien stehenden Maschine hält Feuchtigkeit ebenso gut daran wie Regen davon ab, und ein Motorrad, das nie abtrocknen darf, korrodiert darunter schneller als im Freien. Außenlagerung verlangt Belüftung unten und eine Maschine, die trocken unter die Abdeckung kommt.
Drinnen, in einer Garage, gegen Staub und Tageslicht, leistet eine Abdeckung ihr Bestes.
