Am Sitz eines Spartan lässt sich alles anpassen außer der Schale, und die Anpassung findet genau hier statt. Diese Nummer ist in fünf Stärken geführt, von 20 bis 35 Millimeter. Damit lässt sich der Kieferbereich eines Helms enger oder weiter stellen, dessen Kopfgröße bereits stimmt. Es ist dasselbe Teil, das ab Werk verbaut wird, nur einzeln nach Stärke bestellbar.

Die Stärke wählen
Die Zahl auf dem vorhandenen Polster ist der Ausgangspunkt, nicht die Antwort. Ein Helm verliert über die ersten Tausend Kilometer etwa eine Stufe Halt, weil der Schaum sich setzt. Wer mit 30 mm begonnen hat und beim Bremsen Bewegung spürt, sucht deshalb meist 35. Umgekehrt ist ein Polster, das nach einer Stunde Abdrücke am Jochbein hinterlässt, eine Stufe zu dick. Immer nur eine Stufe ändern und damit fahren, bevor entschieden wird.
Den Sitz prüfen
Bei geschlossenem Kinnband muss der Helm beim Drehen von Hand die Wangenhaut mitnehmen und darf sich nicht unabhängig vom Kopf verdrehen. Lässt sich ohne Kraft ein Finger zwischen Polster und Wange schieben, ist das Polster zu dünn für einen Helm, der im Sturz sitzen bleiben soll.
Passung
Der Lieferant nennt dieses Teil in seiner eigenen Artikelbezeichnung für den Spartan. Gemeint ist die Spartan-Generation, nicht der spätere Spartan RS oder Spartan GT Pro; die führen eigene Innenausstattungsnummern und einen anderen Wangenschnitt. Wer unsicher ist, liest die Artikelnummer am Originalpolster ab.
