Die Piega R-Serie gibt es, weil OZ verstanden hat, dass die Grenze zwischen Rennstreckenwerkzeug und Straßenrad für ambitionierte YZF-R1/M-Fahrer nahezu verschwunden ist. Die geschmiedete Fünfspeichen-Struktur ist keine reine Stilfrage — sie ist das Ergebnis einer Finite-Elemente-Analyse derselben Ingenieure, die auch Räder an Superbike-Teams der Spitzenklasse liefern. Jeder Speichenquerschnitt ist so bemessen, dass überschüssiges Material entfällt, ohne die strukturelle Integrität zu beeinträchtigen — so besteht das Rad OZs interne Sicherheitsprüfung und bleibt dabei leichter als ein gegossenes Ersatzteil.
