Als Maß nennt Öhlins Innendurchmesser 3.1 mm, Schnurstärke 1.6 mm, Werkstoff NBR 70. Die Staubdichtung hält Schmutz ab, dichtet aber nicht gegen Öldruck. Sie ist das Teil, das bei einer Überholung am häufigsten getauscht wird. Die Nut gibt die Verpressung vor; zu wenig dichtet nicht, zu viel zerstört den Ring.

Nummer 00338-14 und Maß gehören zusammen; weicht eines ab, ist es die falsche Position. Beim Lagern altern Dichtungen; Öhlins gibt deshalb Chargen mit Datum aus. Ein Dichtkopf fasst Wellendichtring, Staubdichtung und Führung in einer Baugruppe zusammen.
