Funktion
Maßlich ist das Teil mit Innendurchmesser 46 mm, Außendurchmesser 16 mm beschrieben. Der Dichtkopf fasst Wellendichtring, Staubdichtung und Führung zusammen. Er wird als Einheit getauscht, weil die Teile aufeinander abgestimmt sind. Die Staubdichtung hält Schmutz ab, dichtet aber nicht gegen Öldruck.

Öhlins ändert Teile im Laufe einer Baureihe; die Nummer, nicht das Baujahr, sagt, was passt. Eine Überholung ist günstiger als ein neues Federbein, solange die tragenden Teile in Ordnung sind. Die Dichtung hält das Öl im System und den Schmutz draußen. Ist die Nummer bekannt, ist die Zuordnung eindeutig — anders als bei der Beschreibung allein. Die Ersatzteilliste folgt der Explosionszeichnung; jede Position hat ihre eigene Nummer, auch wenn zwei Teile gleich aussehen.
Öhlins hält Positionen oft über Modellgenerationen hinweg gleich, tauscht aber ohne Ankündigung Werkstoffe. Nach dem Einbau wird die Einheit kurz durchgefedert, bevor sie unter Druck gesetzt wird. Ein überholtes Federbein arbeitet wieder mit der Dämpfung, die im Datenblatt steht — vorausgesetzt, die Teile stimmen.
Die richtige Nummer finden
Die Maße stehen unten; sie sind der zweite Prüfpunkt neben der Nummer 05129-20. Ein undichter Dichtkopf zeigt sich als Ölfilm auf der Welle, lange bevor es tropft. Beim Ausbau wird er nicht geschlagen, sondern gezogen — sonst verzieht sich die Bohrung.
