Funktion
Ein Maß gibt es hier nicht zu prüfen — Nummer und Explosionszeichnung bestimmen die Position. Der Schlauch ist innen mit einem Gewebe verstärkt und darf nicht geknickt werden. Der Schlauch verbindet Dämpfer und Behälter und muss den vollen Systemdruck tragen. Ein Trennkolben oder eine Blase hält Gas und Öl auseinander.

Öhlins hält seine Fahrwerke über Einzelteile am Leben; deshalb lässt sich ein fünfzehn Jahre altes Federbein noch überholen statt ersetzen. Wer die Einheit selbst zerlegt, sollte die Nummern vor dem Ausbau notieren; hinterher sind sie schwer zu lesen. Es ist mit Stickstoff vorgespannt, damit das Öl unter Last nicht schäumt. Der Behälter nimmt das Öl auf, das die einfahrende Welle verdrängt.
