Das Sättigungsproblem
Ein überfüllter Aktivkohlebehälter kann flüssigen Kraftstoff an das Spülventil weitergeben, und das Ergebnis ist ein fetter, unruhiger Leerlauf, der ohne Muster kommt und geht. An einer V-Strom mit großem Tank, der bei jeder Gelegenheit randvoll gemacht wird — und genau das tun Fahrer auf langen Etappen — ist das ein realistischer Defekt und keine Theorie, und am Straßenrand kaum zu diagnostizieren.
Ein Motorrad, das beladen wird
Die DL1050 trägt Gepäck, und Gepäck bringt Kabel: einen Regler für die beheizte Jacke, einen Zusatzsicherungskasten, einen Kompressor, eine Navigationszuleitung. Jedes davon braucht einen trockenen, geschützten Platz, und davon bleiben nach der Koffermontage nicht viele. Der Behälter belegt einen der besseren.
Vor dem Zerlegen abwägen
Die DL1050 ist ein Motorrad für lange Etappen auf öffentlichen Straßen, und ihre Typgenehmigung setzt das Verdunstungssystem voraus. Wer es ausbaut, sollte das entschieden haben, bevor die Seitenverkleidungen unten liegen — nicht, weil die Arbeit schwer rückgängig zu machen wäre, sondern weil sie zweimal gemacht werden muss, wenn die Entscheidung anders ausfällt. Die Teile gehören in eine beschriftete Kiste, nicht in die Tonne.
