DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ESR 017 emulates the RR-R's electronic fork so conventional cartridges can go in without a warning.
Key Features
- Honda CBR 1000 RR-R Fireblade SP (2020–2026)
- Emulates the electronic suspension the ECU expects
- Suppresses the resulting dashboard fault
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
- No cutting and no splicing
- Fully reversible to standard
The Front Half of the Conversion
Where the rear emulator covers the shock, this one covers the fork. A team replacing both ends needs both parts and they are sold separately for that reason.
What the Fork Reports
Stepper position and damping state, continuously. Fit a conventional cartridge and the controller sees nothing at all and says so on the display.
Emulating Rather Than Disabling
The unit supplies the signals the ECU expects from working electronic forks. Nothing is switched off and nothing is masked; the controller simply reads a plausible answer.
Why Replace Öhlins
Not because the hardware is poor but because a semi-active system decides for itself. A race setup is a fixed, known quantity and that is the point of it.
A Longer Swingarm
Honda stretched the RR-R's swingarm considerably for traction on corner exit, which is a racing decision that makes the bike less agile on a road.
Aerodynamics From MotoGP
The winglets came off the RC213V. On a motorcycle making this much power at the top of the range, keeping the front wheel loaded is a real engineering problem.
Original Connector
Nothing is spliced. The factory forks and their wiring go back whenever the bike returns to standard specification.
Seven Model Years
The fitment runs from 2020 through the current bike, which makes it one of the more forgiving part numbers in a range that changes frequently.
The Cheapest Part of an Expensive Job
Cartridges, springs, a set-up session and this emulator. Only one of those four costs less than a rear tyre.
Two Hundred and One Kilograms
Kerb weight for the SP, which is heavier than the previous Fireblade despite everything Honda did to reduce it. The engine and the longer chassis account for most of the difference, and it is a reminder that homologation requirements shape these motorcycles more than road testing ever does.
