Wide Bars and Less Rotation
An upright riding position with the hands far apart gives the wrist less natural rotation than clip-ons do. A long throttle travel is therefore more awkward on the Rivale than on an F3, and shortening it suits the ergonomics specifically.
A Supermoto That Is Not One
Long-travel suspension, a high seat and folding footrest tips on a Brutale's engine and frame. MV never claimed the Rivale was a competition machine, but everything about its geometry suggests someone who had ridden one drew it.
The Standard Cluster Cannot Stay
It is built around the throttle tube and comes off with it. On a road-registered motorcycle the starter and engine stop controls have to be restored properly, and an independent bar clamp is how that is done.
Positioned for an Upright Rider
The mounting can be rotated to suit a hand approaching from above rather than behind, which is the geometry a wide handlebar produces and one that a throttle-mounted housing cannot accommodate.
Original Connector
Pre-wired for MV's plug. Nothing is spliced, no fault code follows and the standard assembly refits at any point, which on a rare model is worth preserving the option of.
Sealed Against Weather
Military-specification contacts in a machined body. A Rivale has no bodywork at all, so the housing and its seals are the only thing standing between the electrics and whatever the road throws up.
Three Model Years
The Rivale ran from 2014 to 2016 and then disappeared during a range rationalisation. Parts for it were never plentiful, which makes a properly engineered component worth taking when one is available.
