Das ist die Fläche, auf die der Fahrer schaut. Sie sitzt zwischen den Unterarmen, vor dem Tankverschluss, und deckt die Airbox ab, die die vordere Hälfte dessen einnimmt, was die meisten Tank nennen. An jeder Ampel, in jeder Autobahnstunde ist das, was im Blickfeld liegt – und damit das eine Paneel, bei dem die Wahl der Ausführung Folgen über den Geschmack hinaus hat.

Blendung ist ein echtes Argument
Eine breite glänzende Fläche direkt unterhalb der Blickachse wirft Sonnenlicht nach oben. An einem Supersportler mit tiefem Lenker verdeckt der Kopfwinkel das; an einem aufrechten Roadster nicht. Fahrer, die beide Ausführungen hatten, beschreiben meist dasselbe – Klarlack sieht auf dem Foto besser aus, Matt ist an einem langen Nachmittag Richtung Westen angenehmer.
Das Gegenargument: Klarlack steckt Kraftstofftropfen am Einfüllstutzen besser weg und lässt sich in Sekunden abwischen. Wer sorgfältig tankt und oft putzt, hat damit das schönere Objekt.
Passend für
BMW S1000R, Modelljahre 2013 bis 2020, an den Originalbefestigungen. Derselbe Artikel deckt die S1000RR von 2015 bis 2018 ab, die diese Airbox und ihre Abdeckung teilt. Die Maschine ab 2021 hat hier eine neue Anordnung und nimmt ein anderes Teil.

Drei Gewebe, nicht zwei
Neben den üblichen 200 Plain und 245 Twill gibt es diesen Artikel in 210H – einem dritten Gewebe, das nur an einem kleinen Teil des Fullsix-Programms auftaucht. Es wirkt feiner als 245 Twill und strukturierter als 200 Plain. An einem Paneel dieser Größe, auf diese Betrachtungsdistanz, ist es die Version, die den nahen Blick am meisten belohnt.
