CH10020 sitzt über dem Hinterrad und fängt ab, was der Reifen nach vorn wirft. Am Rennmotorrad, mit entferntem Serienheck und dessen Kunststoffteilen, zählt diese Aufgabe mehr als an der Straßenmaschine — es ist schlicht viel weniger Verkleidung übrig, die etwas aufhalten könnte.

Was er schützt
Das Federbein liegt direkt in der Schusslinie und ist das Bauteil, das am wenigsten toleriert, was auf ihm landet. Splitt, der die Kolbenstange erreicht, wird beim nächsten Einfedern am Dichtring vorbeigezogen, und eine verkratzte Stange heißt Überholung statt Reinigung. Wasser und Gummistaub an den Umlenklagern tun dasselbe langsamer. Nichts davon ist dramatisch und alles vermeidbar — deshalb gehört ein Heckkotflügel zur ordentlichen Vorbereitung, obwohl er für die Rundenzeit nichts tut.
Vor der ersten nassen Sitzung montieren
Der Schaden, den dieses Teil verhindert, sammelt sich unsichtbar an, und er sammelt sich im Nassen am schnellsten. Ein Motorrad, das eine trockene Trackday-Saison ohne einen gefahren ist, hat vermutlich Glück gehabt; eines, das zwei nasse Rennwochenenden hinter sich hat, nicht. Es ist ein günstiges Teil, das man früh montiert, und ein ärgerliches, dessen Montage man sich hinterher wünscht.
