3DY20065 ist die mittlere Variante von Carbonins drei Ansaugrohren für die R9. Sie teilt sich den Preis mit der kurzen Ausführung und liegt deutlich unter der langen, was alle drei in ein klares Verhältnis setzt: zwei Einzelrohre und eine größere Baugruppe.

Was der Druck bei einem Kanal bringt
Ein Ansaugkanal ist eines der wenigen Bauteile, bei denen additive Fertigung schlicht besser ist als Formen und nicht nur bei kleinen Stückzahlen günstiger. Ein geformtes Rohr braucht eine Trennnaht, und eine Trennnaht in einem Luftweg ist eine Stufe, die die Strömung nehmen muss. Der Druck setzt gar keine Naht in den Kanal, und er erlaubt eine dünne Wand dort, wo nichts anliegt, und eine dicke dort, wo der Halter klemmt. Für ein Bauteil, dessen ganze Funktion die Form seiner Innenfläche ist, ist das der richtige Tausch.
Der Filter ist die andere Hälfte
Ein sorgfältig geformter Kanal, der einen zugesetzten Filter speist, bringt nichts, und auf der Rennstrecke füllt sich ein Filter schneller, als die meisten erwarten — Gummiabrieb, Bremsstaub und alles, was das Motorrad davor aufwirbelt, landen in der Airbox. Wer sich die Mühe eines eigens gefertigten Ansaugrohrs macht, sollte den Filter im selben Rhythmus prüfen und nicht im Wartungsintervall. Die beiden Bauteile sind ein System und funktionieren nur so gut wie der schlechtere von beiden.
Wie ein Verbundteil behandeln
Gedruckte Teile sind zäh, aber nicht unzerstörbar, und sie mögen es nicht, hart gegen eine harte Fläche geklemmt zu werden. Den dafür vorgesehenen Halter verwenden statt einer Schlauchschelle auf rohem Material, und nicht überdrehen — ein gequetschter Kanal ist ein kleinerer Kanal.
