Dieser Dämpfer lässt sich nicht allein montieren. Akrapovic sagt es direkt: Der Käufer muss zusätzlich eines von zwei Verbindungsrohren wählen — mit oder ohne Katalysator — oder den Evolution-Krümmer. Ohne eines dieser drei Teile gibt es nichts, was den Dämpfer mit dem Motor verbindet, und das Motorrad läuft nicht.

Drei Wege, ihn anzuschließen
Akrapovic bietet ein Verbindungsrohr mit Katalysator, eines ohne und den Evolution-Krümmer an. Welches gewählt wird, entscheidet alles über die fertige Anlage.
Mit dem Katalysator-Verbindungsrohr behält die Anlage ihre EG- und ECE-Typgenehmigung und bleibt straßenlegal. Ohne Katalysator oder mit dem Evolution-Krümmer entfällt die Genehmigung, und das Motorrad wird zur Streckenmaschine. Der Dämpfer ist in beiden Fällen derselbe; das Teil davor nicht.
Beide Teile einplanen
Der Preis auf dieser Seite kauft den Dämpfer. Das Verbindungsrohr ist eine eigene Bestellung und ein eigener Betrag. Niemand sollte an der Kasse glauben, die Anlage sei vollständig — deshalb steht das hier zweimal auf der Seite und nicht einmal im Kleingedruckten.
Drei Komma neun Kilogramm
Ducatis Serienschalldämpfer wiegt an diesen Motorrädern 5,7 kg — eine große Einheit mit zwei Austritten, hoch rechts montiert. Der Akrapovic-Ersatz wiegt 1,8. Knapp vier Kilogramm über dem Hinterrad wegzunehmen verändert, wie schnell eine Monster in die Kurve fällt, stärker als die Zahl allein vermuten lässt.
Drehmoment dort, wo eine Monster es braucht
Die Spitzenleistung steigt von 129 PS auf 131,4, das ist maßvoll. Die Zahl, die sich lohnt, sind 4,5 Nm mehr bei 6.150/min — die Mitte des Drehzahlbands an einem L-Twin, der über das Drehmoment gefahren wird und nicht über die Drehzahl.
Ducati liegt serienmäßig bei 115,7 Nm, mit der Anlage bei 116,1. Wie bei mehreren Auspuffanlagen dieses Katalogs bewegt sich die Spitze kaum, während die Fläche unter der Kurve wächst.
Zwei Motoren, ein Teil
Die 1.198-cm³-Monster 1200 und die 821-cm³-Monster 821 teilen sich trotz des Hubraumunterschieds Fahrwerk und Abgasführung, ein Dämpfer deckt also beide ab. Die Werte auf dieser Seite stammen von der 1200.
Dreißig Minuten für den Dämpfer
Der Dämpfer selbst ist in einer halben Stunde dran. Das Verbindungsrohr zu montieren ist eigene Arbeit und dauert länger, besonders wenn der Serienkatalysator mit heraus muss.
Zulassung
EG- und ECE-Typgenehmigung, gültig nur, wenn das Verbindungsrohr mit Katalysator eingebaut ist. In jeder anderen Ausführung hat die Anlage keine Genehmigung und ist für geschlossene Strecken.
