Die Kofferfrage entscheidet diesen Kauf. Eine BMW F 800 GS, die reist, trägt Seitenkoffer, der rechte sitzt genau über dem Schalldämpfer, und ein Zubehörauspuff, der nicht daran vorbeikommt, nützt dem Fahrer nichts, der das Motorrad genau dafür gekauft hat. Akrapovic gibt ausdrücklich an, dass diese Anlage mit den BMW-Seitenkoffern verträglich ist.

Drei Namen, ein Dämpfer
BMWs 798-cm³-Parallel-Twin trug ab 2008 die F 800 GS, ab 2013 die sanftere F 700 GS und im selben Jahr die weitreisende F 800 GS Adventure. Die drei unterscheiden sich in Rädern, Fahrwerk und Tank, nicht darin, wo das Abgas entlangläuft — eine Artikelnummer deckt sie also alle bis 2017 ab.
Akrapovic führt diese Anlage unter der Bezeichnung Slip-On Line (Titanium) 700. Das ist die eigene Katalogkurzform des Herstellers und keine Einschränkung: Die Passung schließt die 800 mit ein.
Dreifach genehmigt
EG- und ECE-Typgenehmigung bedeuten keinen Eintrag in die Fahrzeugpapiere und keine Diskussion bei einer Kontrolle. Die gesonderte US-EPA-Zulassung ist auf einer europäischen Katalogseite ungewöhnlich und spiegelt, dass sich diese Maschinen in Nordamerika gut verkauft haben.
Das ist eine Typgenehmigung, keine ABE. Der Unterschied zählt in Deutschland, und die Papiere, die der Anlage beiliegen, sind das, was ein Prüfer sehen will.
Siebenhundert Gramm, und kein Gramm mehr behauptet
Von serienmäßigen 4,9 kg auf 4,2. Vierzehn Prozent, an einem Motorrad, das vollgetankt 214 kg wiegt. Das wird niemand als Veränderung im Fahrverhalten spüren, und etwas anderes zu behaupten wäre unredlich.
Gekauft wird das hier für den Klang und dafür, wie ein Titantopf dort aussieht, wo BMW einen großen Stahlkasten hingesetzt hat. Die Gewichtsersparnis ist echt, aber sie ist eine Fußnote.
Der Drehmomentwert ist nicht geradlinig
Akrapovic verzeichnet ein Spitzendrehmoment von 78,2 Nm gegen serienmäßige 78,3 — zwei Zehntel weniger — und zugleich einen Zuwachs von 1,1 Nm bei 4.550/min. Beide Zahlen stammen vom selben Prüfstandsblatt, und beide stehen hier so, wie der Hersteller sie angibt.
Zusammengelesen beschreiben sie eine Kurve, die in der Mitte voller ist und an ihrem höchsten Punkt einen Hauch tiefer liegt. An einem Reiseenduro, die vom Durchzug lebt, ist das die richtige Reihenfolge.
Eine halbe Stunde
Dreißig Minuten, und so soll ein Slip-On sein. Zwei Schellen, ein Halter, und der Serienschalldämpfer ist ab. Das ist eine Arbeit für die eigene Garage mit einem Drehmomentschlüssel, kein Werkstatttermin.
Eine ältere Maschine, immer noch im Dienst
Die letzten verließen 2017 das Werk, danach ersetzte BMW die Baureihe durch F 750 GS und F 850 GS. Viele sind weiter täglich unterwegs, und sie sind genau die Sorte Motorrad, deren Besitzer sie weiter verbessert statt sie zu ersetzen.
