Die Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak trägt den Namen des Bergrennens in Colorado, und ihre Besitzer mögen Berge meist ebenso sehr. Viele quetschen noch eine letzte Alpentour in den späten September oder Oktober, wenn die Pässe leer sind und das Licht flach steht. Der Haken ist die Temperatur. Auf der Schattenseite eines Tals kann der Asphalt lange nach dem Abtrocknen der sonnigen Hänge kalt, feucht oder sogar vereist bleiben, und kalte Reifen warnen kaum. Für die Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak von 2018 führt Accossato die Achsprotektoren vorne PF05 in Schwarz.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Der PF05 verbindet Aluminium mit Kunststoff und kommt als zwei schwarze Protektoren, links und rechts. Laut Accossato gehören Distanzstücke, Schrauben und alle weiteren für die Montage benötigten Teile zum Set. Mehr steckt nicht hinter der Idee. Rutscht oder kippt die Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak, sollen die Protektoren vor der Gabel den ersten Kontakt mit dem Boden aufnehmen, was den Schaden an der Front kleiner halten kann. Ein unversehrtes Motorrad versprechen sie nicht, und ist einer stark beschädigt oder gerissen, gehört er ersetzt.

Prüfen Sie vor der Abfahrt die Passmeldungen, denn viele Hochstraßen schließen kurzfristig für die Saison, und eine Sperrung kann Sie bei schwindendem Licht in ein unbekanntes Tal schicken. Kleiden Sie sich in Schichten und tragen Sie warme Handschuhe, denn kalte Hände bremsen unbeholfen.
