560 l/m²/sek ist die Zahl, die über diesen Kauf entscheidet, und es lohnt sich, klarzustellen, was für eine Art Zahl das ist. Es ist eine Rate durch einen Quadratmeter sauberes Material, im Labor ermittelt. Wie viele Quadratmeter in dieses Gehäuse gefaltet sind, wird nicht veröffentlicht, ebenso wenig, was eine 1390 bei einer bestimmten Drosselklappenstellung durch sie hindurchzieht, sodass die Zahl für dieses Motorrad nie zu Litern pro Minute wird. Was sie leisten kann, ist, die vier Materialien in eine Rangfolge zueinander zu bringen. Gegenüber dem Standardgewebe beträgt diese Rangfolge einen Faktor von etwa neun: 560 gegenüber 5.050.

Wozu sich die Zahl umrechnen lässt – und wozu nicht
Veröffentlichte Durchflusswerte sind Materialeigenschaften, angegeben pro Flächeneinheit. Es sind ehrliche Zahlen, aber nicht diejenigen, die ein Besitzer tatsächlich erlebt, denn die Fläche im Kasten, die Form der Falte und die Öffnung davor liegen alle zwischen der Spezifikation und dem Motor – und keine davon taucht in irgendeinem Katalog auf. Die eine Aufgabe, die diese Zahlen tatsächlich erfüllen, ist der Vergleich, denn alle vier Materialien hier sind dasselbe Objekt mit einer anderen Füllung. Dieser Vergleich ist exakt: Sich dafür zu entscheiden bedeutet, die größte Reduktion der gesamten Reihe zu akzeptieren.
Die Entscheidung, die bleibt
Bei der stärksten der drei Maschinen die angegebene Rate bewusst durch neun zu teilen, ist eine Entscheidung, die sich durch die Luft rechtfertigen muss, nicht durch das Motorrad. Sie ist gerechtfertigt, wo die Luft tatsächlich mineralischen Staub trägt und die Fahrten häufig genug sind, dass sich die Belastung ansammelt. Und bei alldem geht es nicht um Leistung: Kein Element, das in einen Serien-Luftfilterkasten eingesetzt wird, macht ein Serienmotorrad spürbar schneller, und dieses hier ist konstruiert, um im Austausch gegen Rückhaltung genau das Gegenteil zu tun.
Pflege und Reinigung
Halten Sie das PM190T12 trocken, dann ist die Wartung unkompliziert, wenn auch häufiger nötig als bei einem Gewebe. Druckluft an der sauberen Seite, nach außen geführt, treibt das gesammelte Material auf demselben Weg zurück, auf dem es kam. Bei stärkerer Verschmutzung lauwarmes Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel und Spülen, bis der Ablauf klar ist, dann Trocknen in zirkulierender Luft, so lange es dauert. Hitze ist der eigentliche Feind – keine Heißluftpistole, kein Heizkörper, keine Flamme – und die Matte kommt trocken und unbehandelt zurück in den Kasten.
