Die Rally gibt es, um die öde Hälfte eines langen Tages zu verkürzen: ein größerer Tank, eine Scheibe und eine Verkleidung, damit die Asphalt-Anfahrt zum interessanten Gelände in einem Rutsch gefahren werden kann. Genau das ist das Problem, das der Luftfilter lösen muss: Ein Element deckt beide Tageshälften ab und kann nicht gewechselt werden, wenn sich der Untergrund ändert. Es muss für die Hälfte gewählt werden, die den Schaden anrichtet, nicht für die Hälfte, die den Tacho füllt. Der Sprint Filter PM255ST12 ist die Antwort für Fahrer, deren großer Tank tatsächlich auf unbefestigten Straßen geleert wird: ein trockenes Polyester-Spezialvlies, das bis 7 Mikron filtert bei einem Nenndurchsatz von 560 l/m²/sek.

Eine Etappe, zwei Arten von Luft
Auf der Anfahrt-Hälfte ist die Maschine auf befestigter Straße im gleichmäßigen Reisetempo unterwegs, wo ein 300-cm³-Einzylinder mit Teillast läuft und nur einen Bruchteil dessen abruft, was sein Ansaugtrakt liefern könnte. Der Durchsatz, den der T12 dort zurückhält, ist kein Durchsatz, nach dem der Motor verlangt: Die Drosselung ist zwar vorhanden, landet dort aber in der Reserve. Auf der zweiten Hälfte kehrt sich das um — trockene Piste, Schotter und fremder Staub, wo genau der schwebende Feinanteil tatsächlich angesaugt wird und 7 Mikron Rückhaltung sich lohnen. Da ein Element beide Hälften abdecken muss, ist dies die vernünftige Reihenfolge für die Entscheidung: die saubere Hälfte verträgt ein feines Medium weit besser, als die schmutzige Hälfte ein grobes verträgt.
Wann der P08 die bessere Balance bietet
Viele CRF300 Rally sind Tourenmaschinen mit gelegentlichem Schotter-Abstecher statt Pistenmaschinen mit Straßenanbindung. Der Kompromiss steht in den Zahlen: 80 Mikron bei 5.050 l/m²/sek für den P08, 14 Mikron bei 1.800 für den P14, 7 Mikron bei 560 für den T12. Feiner bedeutet jedes Mal mehr Rückhaltung und weniger Durchsatz. Wenn Ihre Fahrten überwiegend auf Asphalt mit Autobahnetappen stattfinden, ist der P08 das besser ausbalancierte Element, und dafür braucht es keine Entschuldigung; der P14 liegt für staubige Touren dazwischen. Kaufen Sie das feinste Medium, weil Ihre Strecke staubig ist — nicht, weil es das feinste ist.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft ist die tägliche Methode: an der sauberen Seite des PM255ST12 angesetzt und den Staub zurück zur schmutzigen Seite herausgeblasen. Nach einer langen trockenen Etappe erledigt lauwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel den Rest; spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft, dann dem Element frische Luft und ausreichend Zeit geben, denn Hitze oder offene Flamme zerstören es. Es wird trocken wieder eingebaut, ohne jegliches Öl. Sprint Filter legt das Element auf die Lebensdauer des Motorrads aus, das Wartungsblatt finden Sie im Downloads-Tab.
