Ein Durchsatzwert ist eine Obergrenze, und die Frage, die sich bei einem Supersportler lohnt, ist, wie oft der Motor sie überhaupt sucht. Der Sprint Filter P14 SM272P14 ist das Feinfilterelement für die Standard-Airbox der R9: ein trockenes Spezialvlies, das bis 14 Mikron zurückhält, gegenüber den 80 Mikron des P08, der dieses Gehäuse normalerweise bedient. Die Rückhaltung ist nicht umsonst. Der angegebene Durchsatz sinkt von 5.050 auf 1.800 Liter pro Quadratmeter und Sekunde, und bei einer Maschine, die dafür gebaut ist, voll aufgedreht zu werden, verdient das zunächst eine ehrliche Betrachtung.

Wie viel einer Fahrt bei vollem Durchsatz stattfindet
Auf der Rennstrecke enthält jede Runde, egal welcher Länge, lange Abschnitte bei Vollgas, und über eine Session summiert sich das zu Minuten statt Sekunden. Das ist der Fall, in dem der P08 die bessere Wahl für eine R9 ist: 80 Mikron und 5.050 Liter geben dem Motor genau die Reserve, die tatsächlich von ihm gefordert wird, und es ergibt wenig Sinn, etwas wegzutauschen, das die Maschine tatsächlich nutzt. Auf der Straße dreht sich die Rechnung um. Selbst forsch gefahren, erreicht eine straßenzugelassene R9 den Anschlag der Drosselklappe nur in kurzen Schüben zwischen Kurven und Tempolimits, und liegt ansonsten deutlich innerhalb dessen, was beide Medien durchlassen können.
Wählen ohne zu raten
Die nützliche Prüfung ist nicht, wie schnell das Motorrad ist, sondern wie das Jahr damit verbracht wird. Sind Trackdays ein fester Bestandteil der Saison, kaufen Sie den P08 und behalten Sie diese Seite als Referenz. Ist die R9 ein Straßenmotorrad — Sommerdistanz, Bergstraßen mit noch liegendem Wintersplitt, ein Schotterparkplatz am Ende einer schönen Route —, dann hält 14 Mikron einen Anteil zurück, den ein gröberes Gewebe durchlässt, und der aufgegebene Durchsatz liegt oberhalb dessen, was diese Fahrweise beansprucht. Nichts davon ist auch endgültig: Die Airbox bleibt in beiden Fällen unverändert, sodass das Medium bei jedem Service neu überdacht werden kann.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der Service ist von Anfang bis Ende trocken, denn am SM272P14 wird nie Öl verwendet. Mit Druckluft entgegen der normalen Strömungsrichtung durchblasen, an der sauberen Seite angesetzt, über die gesamte Fläche. Reicht Luft nicht aus, erledigt warmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel den Rest, gespült, bis das Ablaufwasser klar ist. Das Trocknen erfolgt vollständig an der frischen Luft, ohne Wärmequelle und ohne Flamme in der Nähe; es kommt erst zurück, wenn es richtig trocken ist.
