Viele Menschen greifen zu einem feinen Luftfilter, weil ihr Motorrad im Freien steht und bei schlechtem Wetter gefahren wird, und Nässe ist genau der eine Zustand, für den dieses Element nicht ausgelegt wurde. Sprint Filters Antwort auf Wasser ist der P037, ein wasserabweisendes Gewebe mit 37 Mikron und 4.500 l/m²/sek. PM127P14 ist die Antwort auf Staub: 14 Mikron, 1.800 l/m²/sek, und nirgendwo darin eine wasserabweisende Behandlung.

Staub und Wasser sind getrennte Probleme
Sie werden durch unterschiedliche Eigenschaften gelöst. Feiner Staub wird durch Struktur beantwortet – einen feineren Weg durch das Medium, was die 14-Mikron-Einstufung beschreibt. Stehendes Wasser und Gischt werden durch Chemie beantwortet, durch eine Behandlung, die verhindert, dass das Gewebe durchnässt, was der P037 hat und diese Matte nicht. Die feinste Einstufung im Regal als Versicherung gegen Regen zu kaufen, ist ein verbreiteter Fehler, und hier lässt er sich nicht einmal machen: Das wasserabweisende Medium ist für diesen Luftfilterkasten nicht gelistet, sodass keine Teilenummer auf der Liste dieses Motorrads diese Frage beantwortet.
Wo die Scrambler 1100 wirklich steht
Die meisten erleben beides. Ein luftgekühlter Twin, im Sommer auf Landstraßen gefahren, begegnet echtem Staub – Feldränder, Steinbruchzufahrten, trockene Schotterparkplätze –, und dasselbe Motorrad fährt im Oktoberregen nach Hause. Dominiert die trockene Hälfte Ihr Jahr, ist diese Matte die vernünftige Wahl, und der dafür gezahlte Durchfluss wird bei Scrambler-typischen Straßentempi ohnehin nicht verlangt. Dominiert die nasse Hälfte, ist kein Filter der Produktreihe die Antwort darauf – das ist eine Aufgabe für Unterstellen, Abdeckungen und den Ablauf im Luftfilterkasten, und nichts davon macht das Motorrad schneller, als Ducati es gebaut hat.
Pflege und Reinigung
Nehmen Sie das Element heraus, setzen Sie eine Druckluftleitung an die saubere Seite und blasen Sie nach außen, bis sich nichts mehr löst. Hat ein Sommer voller trockener Landstraßen es tiefer zugesetzt, waschen Sie es: warmes Wasser, mildes Reinigungsmittel, gespült, bis das Wasser sauber abläuft, dann an der Luft und nur an der Luft getrocknet. Heizgeräte, Heißluftpistolen und Flammen sind das, was diese Elemente tatsächlich zerstört. PM127P14 kommt trocken zurück, ohne dass etwas aufgetragen werden müsste.
