Bei einem über ein Jahrzehnt verkauften Motorrad bleibt fast nichts im Originalzustand. Kunststoffe verblassen, Lager bekommen Spiel, der Auspuff wird stumpfer, und jedes Verschleißteil steht irgendwo auf seiner eigenen Kurve. Der Luftfilter ist die Ausnahme, und das nur, weil er waschbar ist: Ein aus einer neun Jahre alten Super Duke GT genommenes und richtig gereinigtes PM155S ist kein wiederhergestelltes Teil, es ist dasselbe Teil im selben Zustand, in dem es neu war.

Warum Reinigung hier eine vollständige Wiederherstellung ist
Ein trockenes Gewebe hält Schmutz auf und zwischen seinen Fäden, ohne etwas in das Material selbst aufzunehmen. Nichts quillt, nichts löst sich, und nach dem Waschen bleibt nichts zurück außer dem Polyester, das von Anfang an da war. Das gilt nicht für ein Papierelement, dessen Fasern Feuchtigkeit aufnehmen und dessen Falten sich verformen, und es gilt nur teilweise für ein geöltes Baumwollelement, bei dem die Behandlung entfernt und erneuert werden muss und das Ergebnis davon abhängt, wie gut das gelang. Bei diesem Medium gibt es diese Ermessensentscheidung nicht.
Was das für ein langlebiges Modell bedeutet
Die GT ist seit 2016 unter diesem Element gelistet, was mehrere eigenständige Versionen des Motorrads umfasst. Der Gebrauchtmarkt dafür reicht heute von nahezu neu bis wirklich abgenutzt. Was ein bestimmtes Exemplar sonst auch braucht, die Ansaugseite ist ein Punkt, der an einem Nachmittag und ohne Teilebestellung vollständig auf den neuesten Stand gebracht werden kann. Um bei den Grenzen ehrlich zu bleiben: Das holt nichts zurück, was anderswo verloren ging, und fügt einem Serienmotor keine Leistung hinzu. Es stellt das eine Bauteil wieder her, dessen Zustand vollständig umkehrbar ist.
Pflege und Reinigung
Das Element von der sauberen Fläche nach außen durchblasen; das ist der routinemäßige Service und braucht nichts weiter. Bei einem stark beladenen Element von Hand in warmem Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel waschen, gründlich spülen, dann in bewegter Luft trocknen lassen – nie mit Heißluftpistole, Heizkörper oder offenem Feuer, und nie feucht wieder eingesetzt. Das bebilderte Pflegeblatt ist eine der Dateien im Reiter Downloads, und in keiner Phase des Vorgangs kommt Öl zum Einsatz.
