Filterwerte lesen sich wie Schleusen, sind es aber nicht. Wenn Sprint Filter für das P08 80 Mikron angibt, beschreibt das, ab wo die Rückhaltung des Mediums zuverlässig wird — keine Tür, die sich für alles Größere schließt und für alles Kleinere öffnet. Die eigenen Vergleichsmessungen des Unternehmens machen das deutlich: Das P08 hält 93,13 Prozent der ihm angebotenen 100-Mikron-Partikel zurück, ein vierlagiges geöltes Baumwollelement 76,42 Prozent derselben. Beide Werte sind Anteile. Was einen guten Filter von einem schlechten unterscheidet, ist nicht, dass der eine gar nichts durchlässt, sondern wie groß dieser Anteil ist und ob es im nächsten Jahr noch derselbe Anteil ist. Bei einem Motor dieser Größe, der ein Jahrzehnt oder mehr im normalen Einsatz läuft, entscheidet die zweite Hälfte dieses Satzes darüber, wie die Laufbuchse am Ende aussieht.

Was die beiden Zahlen beschreiben
Sie werden leicht verwechselt. Die ø 22 Mikron sind der Durchmesser des Polyesterfadens selbst; die 80 Mikron sind die Öffnung, die das Gewebe zwischen diesen Fäden lässt. Ein dünner und zugleich reißfester Faden ist überhaupt erst die Voraussetzung dafür, eine kalibrierte Öffnung zu weben, und deshalb kann eine einzelne Lage die gesamte Aufgabe übernehmen, statt drei oder vier Lagen zu stapeln, damit sich ihre Unregelmäßigkeiten nicht überlagern. Der Durchflusswert folgt aus derselben Geometrie: 5.050 l/m²/sek durch ein Medium, das nur eine Lage dick und größtenteils offen ist.
Ein Wert, der den Service übersteht
Die Leistung eines geölten Mediums hängt von seinem Ölfilm ab, und der Film hängt davon ab, wer es zuletzt gewartet hat: wie viel Öl aufgetragen wurde, wie gleichmäßig es verteilt war, wie lange es vor dem Wiedereinbau einziehen konnte. Das ist eine Variable im Motorschutz, die nichts mit der Konstruktion des Filters zu tun hat. Ein trockenes Medium kennt diese Variable nicht. Es wird gereinigt, getrocknet und wieder eingesetzt, und die Spezifikation, zu der es zurückkehrt, ist genau die, für die es gebaut wurde. Im Betrieb kann auch nichts austreten, sodass kein Film seinen Weg zu einem Luftsensor oder einer Drosselklappe findet.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen ist der routinemäßige Service für den PM183S. Wenn eine Saison hart war, in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel waschen, spülen, bis das Wasser klar durchläuft, und vollständig an der frischen Luft trocknen lassen, nie mit Hitze und nie in der Nähe einer Flamme. Fitment & Kompatibilität
Gefertigt für die Honda Sonic 150R, 2015 bis 2026 — die längste Bauzeit jeder Maschine mit dieser Teilenummer. Dasselbe PM183S-Element passt außerdem in die FS150, RS150R, Supra GTR 150 und Winner 150 ab 2016, insgesamt fünf Maschinen. Die Liste steht im Fitment-Tab.
