Dies ist das Renn-Element für den Luftfilterkasten, den sich die Honda CB500X mit dem Rest von Hondas 400er- und 500er-Twin-Familie teilt, und es lohnt sich, klar zu sagen: Die meisten CB500X-Besitzer wollen ein anderes. Die X ist die reisegeprägte Maschine der Gruppe – Gepäck, Distanz, unbefestigte Umwege, lange Wartungsintervalle. Der P08 F1-85 ist für den entgegengesetzten Belastungszyklus gebaut: Er lässt 15.000 l/m²/sek statt der 5.050 des Standard-P08 durch, und trotz seines Namens bezahlt er das nicht mit einer weiteren Maschenweite: Im Herstellertest hält er 95,22 % der 100-Mikron-Partikel zurück gegenüber 93,13 %. Ein Staubmedium ist er allerdings nicht. Auf einer Rennstrecke spielt das kaum eine Rolle. Auf einer staubigen Straße zwei Tage von zu Hause entfernt schon, und genau dafür gibt es den P14 mit 14 Mikron.

Wann er das richtige Element für eine CB500X ist
Es gibt einen echten Fall, und er ist eng gefasst. Etliche dieser Motorräder werden zu Rennstreckenmaschinen, Supermoto-artigen Umbauten oder Rallye-inspirierten Projekten, deren Motoren über den Serienzustand hinaus geöffnet wurden und die nach einem Plan gewartet werden, der nichts mit dem Bordbuch zu tun hat. Eine so genutzte CB500X, mit bereits freigelegtem Ansaugweg und passender Wartung, kann von dem profitieren, was der F1-85 liefert. Eine CB500X, die so genutzt wird, wie Honda es vorgesehen hat, kann das nicht – und das Rennmedium dafür zu kaufen bedeutet, mehr für Luft zu bezahlen, die der Motor nicht nutzt.
Über die Produktreihe wählen, statt sich hocharbeiten
Sprint Filter baut dasselbe CM220S-Element in mehreren Geweben, weil es bei der Wahl um die Luft geht, die die Maschine atmet, nicht um eine Qualitätshierarchie. Der F1-85 sitzt an einem Ende: maximaler Durchfluss, patentiertes Renngewebe, Renneinsatz. Der P08 ist das Straßen- und Rennstreckenmedium bei 80 Mikron und 5.050 l/m²/sek. Der P14 geht in die andere Richtung mit 14 Mikron und 1.800, für Staub und lange Ausdauer-Etappen. Keines davon ist das beste. Bei einem so breit genutzten Motorrad wie der CB500X lautet die ehrliche Empfehlung, nach dem Einsatzgebiet zu wählen, und das Rennmedium beantwortet nur eine dieser Fragen.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft von der sauberen Seite, nach außen gearbeitet, und der CM220S F1-85 trocken zurück in den Luftfilterkasten – das ist die gesamte Routine. Wenn mehr nötig ist, waschen Sie ihn in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel, spülen Sie, bis das Wasser klar durchläuft, und geben Sie ihm Zeit an der Luft, um vollständig zu trocknen; Hitze und Flammen sind stets tabu.
