Sprint Filter P08 F1-85 Air Filter for Racing – Aprilia RS 457 (2024–2026) PM252S F1-85

On a 457 the tuning headroom is small, so the intake side has to be honest. The Sprint Filter P08 F1-85 is the racing answer: a patented polyester medium woven from threads starting at ø 22 microns, and by Sprint Filter's own account the most widely used air filter in the MotoGP, Moto3, World Superbike, Supersport and Superstock championships. Here it is offered as a direct-fit element for the Aprilia RS 457 — a bike from a factory Sprint Filter has supplied in SBK and MotoGP since 2015.

What you are actually buying

The F1-85 came out of Sprint Filter's Formula 1 work rather than being adapted down from a road element, and the difference shows in where it makes sense. A more open medium passes more air and, unavoidably, more fine dust with it. On a circuit that is a sensible bargain: the air is comparatively clean, sessions are short, and the filter comes out for compressed air afterwards. On a dusty road ridden every day it is the wrong bargain, and we would rather say so than sell you the more expensive part.

Who should fit this and who should not

Fit the F1-85 if your RS 457 is a track bike, a race bike, or a road bike that mainly sees circuits and is serviced accordingly. Fit the P08 PM252S if it is a road bike. Fit the P14 if it is a road bike in dusty country. The price difference between them is not a quality ladder — it reflects a different medium built for a different environment.

Care and cleaning

The PM252S F1-85 is cleaned like every dry Sprint Filter element. Between sessions, blow an air jet through the element against the normal intake direction and refit it; no washing, no drying, no downtime in the paddock. For a heavily loaded element use compressed air first, then ordinary household detergent, agitate gently, rinse until the water runs clear and air dry completely.
