Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Zontes 368K (2025–2026) SM295S

Four materials are catalogued against this housing and three of them answer a named condition: the nonwoven at 14 µm for dust, the 7 µm material for extremes — listed for one of the five machines, and not this one — and the racing weave at 85 µm for sustained full throttle. This one is aimed nowhere in particular, which is easy to mistake for a lack of ambition and is better read the other way round: 80 µm at 5,050 l/m²/sec is the line the other three are described against.

The row everything else is measured against

Read the range as a table and this becomes visible. The dust material keeps considerably more out and passes far less air. The extreme one travels further still in both directions. The racing weave opens the mesh a fraction and multiplies the rated flow. Every one of those descriptions is a comparison, and this element is what they are compared with. The published retention test sits on the same row: 93.13 % of 100-micron particles held, against 76.42 % for the four-layer oiled cotton it was measured beside.

Choosing the middle on purpose

A specialised material pays only in the condition it was drawn for and costs in every other one, and a medium is chosen once and then lived with for years. A 368K that commutes on weekdays, carries luggage in August and sees a circuit twice a season never stays in any single condition long enough to collect on a specialisation. An unspecialised weave is never the sharpest answer to a known week and never the wrong answer to an unknown one. What it will not do is add power: the element is a drop-in part in an untouched box, and that route simply does not exist. What it does is hold restriction low and repeatable right across the service interval.

Care and cleaning

A service is compressed air worked from the clean face outwards until the weave looks even again, so the dust leaves by its entry route rather than being driven deeper. Films that air will not shift — insect residue in summer, oily grime in winter — come off with lukewarm water and mild detergent. Rinse, then leave it to dry in moving air at room temperature and nowhere near a flame, radiator or heat gun. The SM295S is refitted dry and bare. Downloads holds the maintenance sheet.
