The Ago was built to honour Giacomo Agostini, in the colours he won on, in numbered quantity. Bikes like that are not bought to be modified — they are bought to be kept correct, and correct means both that nothing has been added and that nothing has been neglected. Those two requirements usually pull against each other. The Sprint Filter P08 CM135S is one of the few parts that satisfies both: it sits inside the standard airbox where MV Agusta put a filter, and it never needs replacing.

No gap in the service history

Numbered editions are inspected, and the awkward moment always comes at the same place: a service due, a part number that has gone out of production, and a decision about whether to fit something else or leave it. An element that is cleaned rather than replaced removes that moment entirely — there is nothing to source, because the filter you already own goes back in. It also helps that CM135S is shared with ten other MV models, several of them current, so the part itself stays in production regardless of how few Agos were built.

Standing still is its own kind of wear

A bike like this covers few kilometres and spends long stretches parked, which is a duty cycle that ages a paper element without the odometer ever moving. Dry polyester does nothing while it waits — there is no oil to settle, nothing to gum, and the airbox is the same in spring as it was in autumn.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame. Refit dry.
